I need some assistance on selecting a proper fitted Turbine Wheel and Housing for a mild RB26 that was just built for a mates 32. I'm a 2J kinda guy and know what works best for Supra's. I've tuned a few RB's, pulled a few motors, and had my hands in/around them enough to get an idea, but I've never picked a proper suited turbo for one. I don't know what the engine flows, which makes it difficult. I figure you blokes would know tons more than myself.

The turbo is a CompTurbo TBB T70. T4 divided on a custom stainless header with a TiAL 60mm gate. 18-20 psi on USA crap 93 octane, and 30(ish) psi on VP C-16.

No real power goals in mind. Main goal is to avoid surge, but keep the housing small enough where it'll still spool relatively quickly.

The turbine wheel options we are looking at are Q trim (2.7" exducer), MX trim (2.8" exducer) and SX trim (2.95" exducer).

The housing options in mind are .84 A/R divided, and 1.00 divided.

I have the 4376 TBB with a .84 Q trim on my Supra and I LOOOOOOVE this turbo (Had many turbos prior)

Here's a link for more info.

Comp Turbo CT4370

Thanks again fellas.

He'll want to run the 2.7" 0.84 with a 3.5 or 4 inch vband.

It'll be making about 1 bar of boost at 3500rpm and he should net 600-650 hp on the c16. Probably only 20psi of boost it'll come in at 480hp at the wheels

Personally I prefer to use a Garrett made turbocharger because if you pick the right ones they work better than a pile of parts put together by a reseller .

Garrett often make available compressor and turbine maps but they mean zip it the wheels aren't used in their native Garrett housings . Accurate turbine maps need a set pair of compressor and housing to mean anything because how the comp end loads up the turbine has a lot of say in its performance .

It would be good to know what you're intending to use for an exhaust manifold because that sets the flange size and single/twin scroll options .

GT series turbines and compressor wheels are mostly better things than their older T series cousins because they tend to be lighter and slightly smaller in diameter for the same gas flow .

Once you get into GT35R's (GT3582R's) you tend to be stuck with single scroll T3 flanged turbine housing though Turbonetic make a "F1-35R" based on a larger center section and T4 flanged twin scroll turbine housings .

For someone in the States you could speak to Geoff Raicer of Full Race Motorsport because he's put a bit of time into turbos and manifolds for Nissan RB26's , not cheap but I believe the results are real good .

Cheers A .

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
