has any one run a nitto pump to 8000, does the oil pressure drop in the last 1000

ive run our greddy pump to 9000 and its pretty much the same pump. Stock tomei baffled sump all ok, what sump and capacity are you using?

8.5 ltr, even if you spin the engine up for 1 power run the pressure drops 3 pound after 7k

what sump ? dont post it please pm me. We lost a engine (luckily our own) cause the aftermarket sump we used had the pickup mounted too close to the sump floor.

the sumps one i created, 6 gated deal nothing fancy, the thing has another issue where it fills the rocker covers at the track if you pull it through 6 gears there is no oil in the pan.

what restrictor size in the block?

what restrictor size in the block?

1.5 rear 1.5 centre and 1.9 front as per standard, the thing has done a bundle of racing, but with an n1 pump. i pulled the engine today, and fitted a -12 rear drain but not sure how far to cut back the top end feed, the vtc is still used and the power delivery is 11 hundred revs earlier with it, so i dont want to disconnect it, even with the 6 speed it hopeless at the track with out it. How far can you cut back the oil flow. im only running 70 psi hot.

vent the sump on the drivers side to an intermediate tank with the rocker covers then vent this tank to a regular catch can...problem solved.

have you ever blocked the centre oil feed with hydralic lifters

id drop the restrictors down in size, i tested the rear drain on our engine on the dyno and found it did NOTHING useful... so we dont bother with them.

We drop to 0.95 in the drift 26's and have no issues, the 25's need more like 1.2mm or your lifters start to starve.

so you dont think blocking the centre feed is the go, who is the sydney kid, he posted a chart re this

hey mate, im running the vvt head and had too much oil in the head, blocked the center feed, 1.5 in the back and about 1.4 in the vvt feed.

Solved the problem and no lifter rattles.

over 100psi cold and around 70psi hot oil pressure.

can i nominate this post for post of the year....thanks Trent. Another one who has actually tested this rear head drain bullshit and proved it as such. In a race engine i recommend running 1.2's with a hydraulic head and 1.5 for the VCT, enlarging the factory drains by 2mm...this works well.

cheers, ill get it back together and run it on the roller and let you know, thanks for the feed back guys

LOL yeah but the problem is our race car still has it so everyone we build an engine for goes "i want one too" and we get into the converstion of why we no longer do it ;)

PS i remmebr reading a few months back in a Laptop thread what type everyone was using.... lately i've been having performance issues with mine (read dropping, splashing and incar datalogging during drift mishaps) i decided to bite the bullet and buy a toughbook like yourself... best investment ever.

u gotta admit though paul - having the rear drain in place looks really tough (bling factor) & its another thing to add to your mod list LOL

+1 for the tough book! In the last 6 years, I've drowned it twice, dropped it in the bilge (i work on superyachts) a dozen times, tuned a 3000hp 4000 series MTU marine diesel with 47psi of boost, seen 16 yachts, it's been to 18 countries, 4 continants, saved my ass in 3 air ports, had me questioned once in germany(thought I looked suss with all the datalogging/satalite gear and a millitary toughbook), had 3 different OS's, 2 ram upgrades and downloaded over 300gig or prn...

oh and tuned my GTR... ha ha ha must have flown off the seat 25 times!

without a hicup!!!

who needs a sissy mac!!!

Hey Trent, how do the trust sumps stack up in your sump testing?

Cheers

J.

    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
    • Well they got my money but they are not getting my gearbox !
    • It's needed for rolling idle up, and I think it is a decider on VCT also.
    • I mean, not really. Link ECU's can absolutely still have errors from the ECU thinking it's getting a sensor it's not expecting. I would imagine the speed at the ECU level in Nistune does absolutely nothing anyway? I assume the ECU does not do any fancy TC stuff with regards to front+rear wheel speed or anything of that like anyway. Someone who uses Nistune may be more fluent in it.
