Ok so i bought the car with a stock cassette player and speakers... damn it was bad quality :)

So i bought myself one of these http://www.alpine.com.au/products/product.asp?modelID=408 for $340 brand new (thought i was a bargin considering the RRP on the alpine site is $699)

The unit may be abit overkill for me but i wanted the 2.2" screen.

So my stock speakers do sound alot better then before, but the problem im facing now is i cant get some decent sound over the noise of my exhaust (starts to distort) :P if that makes sense.

Looking now at getting some decent quality front and rears and i think its a must to get some sound deadening also. Just wondering what is the best setup of speakers and other things

for the headunit i have / car. (not too knowledgeable in audio stuff)

Thanks in advance :)

Ok the 50x4 amp in that unit is not going to cut the mustard if you want to get over the top of your vehicles noise floor ( the sum of all the noises created by the car eg, wind, road, tyre, exhaust, engine etc). Firstly what is your budget? secondly don't bother with rears unless you plan on using them for low frequencies (below 250Hz).

If you want to get away with minimal cost but end up with a reasonably good quality system I'd suggest

1) A good 2 way component set of speakers

2) A 4 Channel class D amp (4 x 150watt) 2 x 150watts for fronts & 1 x 300watt for sub.

3) A subwoofer

Contrary to your request I've suggested a sub because you won't get the lower frequencies & thump without spending a considerable amount of money on the front speakers and installation.

So your budget will come into play as to what you will be able to get, if you want good quality and don't mind getting S/H gear shop at the for sale section at MEA but don't forget to make an allowance for installation:

Nice deal on the IDA-X305, always liked that unit... good price on that for you there too!

anyway, Alpine do a package deal that comes with:

1x MRP-F600 4x100WRMS 4 Channel Amplifier (yes, its a true 100WRMS)

1x SPR-17S 17CM Type R Component Speakers (tweeter positioning is something to think about, they're big suckers)

1x SPR-69C 6x9" Type R Coaxial speakers (Ask your dealer to swap them for SPR-17C for you, i know i do for customers, as the 6X9"s wont fit)

comes to about $1300 RRP, and the pack goes for $999. works out that you get your rears for free.

Good sounding speaker in the $349 range, you can get a speaker with a nicer high end, but the type r really does well, and makes a LOT of midbass.

Mosoto:

Since when are 4 channel amplifiers class D?

I can tell you straight up. a good mp3 headunit, and some rockford fosgates punch with an amp.. I went that road and wholly f**k never had so much bass from 6" speakers.

Dont beleive me pop into a local chinabarn and check them out!

oh an all for under $500. Best bang for your buck and sounds great.. spending any more that $5-600 on your stereo is silly.

Sound systems belong in your loungeroom. Cars belong on the street with some power :D

speakers, head unit and an amp for under $500? what modle speakers and amp ect

    • Ok thanks..that was my second question if i can somehow bypass this even with Nistune(that is all i have right now...aparat from stock ECU. So with some aftemarket it can by "bypassed" or make it work?  I know there is Link or Haltech (mainly used). We have ECUmaster here so i will gather some info about it.
    • Yes. You will need to get the original boost sensor and wire it in. That is.... if you plan to use a stock ECU - even a Nistuned ECU. The Nissan ECU will not operate correctly without it connected. And yes, it will do annoying stuff like you are experiencing. You will almost certainly be better off with some aftermarket ECU, than trying to hunt down rare sensors.
    • Ok so ABS/TCS is "not" the problem. Yeah i know now about the ABS with Nistune(i told that to the Nistune guy) but iam not 100% why or why i dont have ABS. ABS cube is in the engine (always has been) but i had braked couple of times rly hard and brakes just locked and scream. Does all Skylines have ABS cube? That boost sensor https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/367633-wtb-r34-gtt-turbo-pressure-sensor-pics-inside/ Is this it? I need to ask but i have a picture of engine bay and i do not see that (100% is not in that place) If i do not have this the car can do what mine is?(cutting around 4000 rpm) Here is the pic of my engine bay(only one i have) BUT i think i dont have that cuz loom was used from my RB20DE NEO and i know (obviously) that it does not have boost control or any wire to that...) so maybe that is the problem? (i dont know for 100% if that car where the engine is from had that)...but i dont have the loom from that
    • I'm with you here. It's either loom has an issue, OR, injectors are not functioning properly. It could even be they're just constantly dribbling, hence the wet, but not firing.
