My friend has a RED TOP RB20Det NICS engine, what boost can the engine run? say the turbo get any psi, on a STOCK. What mods could get this figure higher.

I'm no expert, but personally..I wouldn't take it over 10 psi with the stock intercooler and such. It might even handle 12-14 pounds, but why risk it? I tend to be a bit paranoid about such things, so if you're set on raising the boost, might want a second...or third opinion. :) Good luck.

Hi guys, our experience has been that much more than 1.2 bar on the standard turbo super heats the air and the standard cooler can't cool it. So it looses power and detonates like crazy, till it finally kills a ring land or two.

If I remember correctly, 1 bar = ~14.1 pounds of boost, or so?

I've had my R32 for over 2 years now clocking up 60,000km's.

I had the exhaust fitted wich upped the boost to 10.9psi.

I had a bleeder fitted and upped boost to 12.5psi with a fuel pressure mod which worked well with the stock fuel pump as the a/f was perfect through out the entire rev range. It made 152rwkw.

I then richened it up a little my self and pumped boost up to 14psi where it stayed for 3 months.

I had the FMIC fitted and wound the boost up to 15psi, BUT it would drop in the higher rpms to around 12.5-13psi. Peak power was 155rwkw.

I fitted a EBC that held boost through out the rev range. Boost was set to 15psi and made 164rwkw, timing was dropped back a little to near std as summer time came.

I have since removed the EBC (sold) and fitted a bleeder which in the mid range up to around 5500rpm runs 1.2bar (17psi).

Still hanging in there..... :D

I should speak to soon as it may go pop. ;)

1 bar = 14.7psi
