Full Bucket Seats Legal ?

I'll stick my 2 cents in and to agree with what others have said.

Fixed back bucket seats are only legal if:

1. They are ADR approved (ie they have passed the ADR testing. Most Brides aren't to my knowledge, Sparco Pro 2000's are for example)

2. The mounting you have made in the car is signed off by an engineer. This includes aftermarket everything.

Harnesses are legal if:

1. Your car was pre 1974 (perhaps 1976?) which from memory was the year the ADR's came in for retractable seat belts. Anything after this, and you aren't allowed to wear harnesses unless you are on private road/race track or they were a factory option.

2. The harness doesn't stop or hinder passengers entering/seating in the car if there is a passenger seat in the back for example. Typically you can get away from this by removing the rear seat and getting the car registered as a two seater.

3. The harness is only a four point, and is AS (Australian Standard) tested. Klippan or RPM I know are two harnesses which comply. They must have the common style clip mechanism, and must conform to the Vicroads/RTA/QLD government dudes/etc. fitment recommendations (ie so you don't snap your back in half with your seat when you have an accident)

Fixed back seats are extremely comfortable (even doing 8 hour drives in Tasmania Targa roads on full boost with the missus as a passenger). Reversing is the only thing that I find is annoying.

I've got Sparco Pro 2000's, Klippan harnesses and a whole lot of "It's legal Mr officer" in the glove box of my Datsun 1600.

What (If any) racing seats are reclinable AND ADR approved, so that they can legally be fitted into a coupe for street use. I can only seem to find one of the other.

None? I don't know of a racing seat that is reclinable. (someone prove me wrong?)

If you are talking about 'race style' then that's different.

I think the bloke earlier was trying to say that?

woah thats cool sparco pro 2000 are legal?

Ive got one, but never knew it was legal... now to get the rail engineer certified, its a bride rail though with 7mm L shaped alloy side brackets...

will that pass you think???

The new Recaros produced are ADR approved seats with rails, but once again if you own a 2 door coupe you still need to remove and re-register your car as two seater.

This is why I'm installing a rollcage instead for track and less passengers to ferry around :D

      I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up

      You have a knack for photography my friend. It makes the 86 look like a complete bucket. The 34 went with you to Europe and back. It's special. (we all feel the same about our 'shitboxes' that every bystander seems to absolutely love)

      The final part arrived today to un-clampify and simplify the intake Who would have though a 1/2" hose stainless bulkhead fitting designed for below waterline bilge pumps would be what I needed Test fit on a 3" offcut I had laying around to see if it would work, and it worked a treat All going well the intake will be on its "final version" tomorrow
