I dont know what the probl;em is,

when its cold i cant run it at all

it sounds like its suking sooo much air its not funny,

i have ba boost cointroller set to 8psi and 14psi,

8 psi goes harder than the 14 cause when is on 14 it just pops and farts all over the place.

also i dont think a rb25det running 8psi sould get beatn by a n/a 2001 astra.

im really starting to get shitty cause its only 3 minths old and runs like a heap of shit.

mods done

3in HKS super dragar exhaust from turbo

Turbosmart 2 stage boost controller

Water injected onto standard cooler

Fuel cut defender

Pod air filter

BOV

was wondering if there is any one in the hills district that could come and have a look at it, its wurrying me and itys a pain when you get beating by a S**T box.

R33 GTST

Late series 1

yea serviced it about 3000 ago myself, i dont trust any1 else with a car like that.

Jay - yea its aftermarket, not sure what type just was sitting in my mate garage at home, how do u adjust it?

i could email you piks if you want

Like J said your BOV could be leaking air therefore making your AFM readings incorrect. Lots of people experience stalling issues because of this.

As for the Flat spots at high boost I'am with muffas in saying that your plugs could be F*cked or they may not be gapped for high boost (.8). Remember that the inlet cam changes it posi to increase the pull at 4500 rpm which will also be contributing to your flatties becuase the fuel fixture really get rich when this happens.

So i guess if i was you i would:

1) close after market bov, or borrow standard one?

2) Check & gap plugs

3) Wind the boost down to 12psi (R33 stock computer will perform ignition cut (what people call boost cut) any where from 11psi to 14psi depending on the particular car) I am not sure if you fuel cut defender will stop this?

4) Get SAFC to lean out A/F ratio at higher RPMS.

Hope this actually helps & iam not just full of Sh*T :-}

Good luck with it all

OK, before getting a (apexi Super AFC used for adjusting A/F ratio's about $700 bucks? not sure)

Try turning your boost down to about 12psi, In most cases the standard turbo on an r33 will not run efficiently at 14 psi and may even produce less power at 14 psi. Untill you get you car dynoed at the different boost levels you wont know for sure but i would run 12 psi for now to try and resolve your flat spotting.

Also see if you can get that stock BOV to try and solve your starting issues.

If turning the boost down does not solve your problem it could be that one of your coil packs are shagged :-{, once again getting one of a mate to do some tests would be your best bet as you dont want to waist money buying coil pack (about $125 sh)...

I say sell your car and buy an astra. :)

But seriously, how much research did you do before just upping the boost to 14psi on the stock cooler? Then you just chucked a BOV you had lying around on?

And now you're having problems? What did you expect?

What sewid means is:

The stock cooler is very un-efficient, therefore when your boost gauge says that you are at 14psi your turbo is probably (for args sake) pushing out say 16psi or maybe more!

I know a lot of people will tell you that you can run 14 psi of a stock r33 turbo and to my mind they are right, just make sure that you have a after market cooler that is reasonably efficient before doing so.

Remember: You might achieve more power by running a little less than 14psi with a stock turbo...

Right.

The stock cooler is not going to be able to cope with 14psi. The air is therefore going to be less dense and you will not be seeing the performance you should.

To compound this, is your pod filter in a enclosure or partitioned off from the engine bay? If not then again you will be sucking in enormously hot air from the engine bay.

All of this spells hot air in the engine, meaning crap all improvement over a stock car.

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
