Hi there i own a R32 GTR and i am looking at getting rid of my Hicas, once the car was on the hoist i began to think maybe i will do a few more upgrades to my suspension, i already have Tein monoflex coil overs. But still retain stock sway bars.

Front castor arms adjustable, front camber arms which i will be buying the unique autosports new adjustable items soon, rear hicas lock out bar, rear traction arms, etc etc.

Now i know that the great brands are Cusco, Ikea formula as an example, but i want to know has anyone used any of the Just jap gear and i dont want haters replying but guys who have tried there stuff and have good advice and info to give.

Some of their gear i know is 2 times cheaper but is it good enough for a mainly street car which will see occasional track work. I heard some say that the gear has come along way and alright but others say its crap.

Its attractive because i can gear out my entire car with less than half of the cost of the jap brands but i dont want a sour taste 6-7months down the track if its not worth it and should have just kept my original gear.

Any thoughts or advice will be great.

cheers,

Dave.

dont write this off as a hater comment, more a helpful one.... those rims in your avatar.... lose them.

they appear to b cheap china made 20's yes? and would weigh 8 billion kg's...

get some 2nd hand jap rims in 17/18 and you'll already have a performance increase.\

as for swaybars, selby's make great products and are at a good price

Thanks for that but i have already got my original gtr rims on them for the last 1.5yrs thats an old pic haha i know they are shit cheap rims will change the pic to avoid more comments.

But any one else have any info on these parts, hoping to get some of the real gurus advice please :D

I've seen a few comments from people that have experienced the welds on some JJR gear cracking. Though that might have been older stuff and I've considered using the JJR R33 front upper arms.

Personally I've used arms from ISC and Drift Shop and had no problems, they are both 'budget' brands too. Maybe consider those also?

might just jump into this thread without starting a new one, but does anyone sell urethane bush kits to suit R32 GT-R/4 at a reasonable price? I can only seem to find them on ebay and a kit listing on the Superpro website k ta.

I think I have a full set in stock at home, my usual mix of Whiteline Plus (nee Noltec), Whiteline Flat Out and SuperPro. No one brand has all of them that give the right amount and type of adjustment. The problem with R32's these days is that they are getting on, they are heavy and very few have had gentle lives. So almost always every bush is stuffed. Most guys also do the HICAS elimination at the same time as it saves doing the rear end alignment twice So the parts cost is rarely under $1.5K, PM me if you want a detailed break down.

The usual stuff for R32GTR's is;

Caster Kit

Front Camber Kit Outer

Front Camber Kit Inner

Steering Rack Bushes

Gearbox Mount Bushes

Rear Subframe Bushes

Rear Subframe Alignment Kit

Diff support bushes

HICAS Elimination Kit

Lower Control Arm Inner

Rear Camber Kit Inner (does upper control arm and traction rod inner)

Rear Camber Kit Outer (does upper control arm and traction rod outer)

Cheers

Gary

Isn't there still a selby branch down in melbourne that does Aus manufactured items? I read this somewhere not too long ago. Could be wrong though. Whiteline are still a great product though. No info regarding the Just Jap stuff though. Mate of mine is using some of the ISC stuff though and they seem pretty good.

Selbys swaybars are still australian owned and made with australian bought steel.

Selbys is in the old whiteline building with most of the same staff that have been there bending the swaybars for the past 14 years

Things like caster rods etc don't need to be "tried and really tested". It's this mentality that holds things up from moving forward (look at the T04Z fanboys for example).

The material is as strong or stronger than cusco. The bearings are better so there is no need to wait for a zillion people to use em first. Youknow they're gonna be great.

Brad you have a point but the thing is alot of items look great sound great but don't deliver. Some people like myself don't have the money to be a test dummy by all means this product may be far superior to cusco etc but like anything real life performance feed back usage of a product will be the difference as to how good it really is and whether it will sell, I base my money expenditure on what is tried can't help I like to play it safe.

Cheers,

Dave

The bearings in cusco arms are from NMB and are one of the highest quality aircraft bearings in the world. They are the default bearing for Airbus planes and are also used in some of the V8 super cars, among many other applications

Try tracking some of these things down (the only place I found that could help was a racing outfit at the silverstone race track who also supplied them to the 888 V8 racing team), the cost is horrific for a bearing.l

So going out and saying that something is better then that is a pretty big call, u sure as hell wont find anything better at any old bearing supplier (especially in oz).

As an example, my cusco caster rods have now done 51000 ks (a bit of track and a lot of road) from new and show no signs of wear what so ever

    • That was the first session so not a lot to take from the day. It was low 20s ambient and the coolant had got to 110 (and obviously had some pressure!) so that still needs to be addressed. I haven't downloaded the data yet but will. I had refilled the auto trans with Redline DT6 because it claimed the best viscosity I could find at 100o. It wasn't really long enough to get a good feel for that; while the trans got to 100o in the session it still wasn't shifting crisply as I hoped. I think I'll try a few more sessions before judging. No steering motor overheat but I'd hope not in only 1 session! But finally the suspension; it was night and day over the standard stuff and the car was a couple of seconds quicker on the same crappy tyres, which is a huge difference. I'll stick with that and get some sway bars and a mechanical diff sorted too and see how that all goes together
    • I guess it’s partially a compromise of how my car is used, wanting to be able to switch from drift to grip with track side on-car adjustment. Also partially with the way the knuckles are set there is more static camber but less dynamic camber gain.
    • OK, so update from the track day on Friday It was a classic "an unfortunate series of events'. There were a few cars around and when i checked my mirror coming out of the fish hook I notice some smoke from the rear of mine. Looked again and it was getting much worse, I figured I'd blown a turbo or something to got off it and pulled off the racing line. However.... since it is a left hairpin into a right kink, I was on the inside of the next corner. There was a car passing me on the left and a big drop off over the ripple strip on the right......and someone had knocked the witch's hat that was on the apex about 1m onto the track. So, between those 3, I decided to mow down the cone and not damage my car/the other car. Right choice, but surprising result.  The car decided the cone was a small pedestrian so it blew the rear bonnet hinges up to protect their head in the upcoming person to car impact....I didn't see that coming and like an airbag deployment it happened super fast. Straight into the pits from there, everything was driving fine but it became clear it was a coolant leak not smoke, it was billowing up onto the windscreen. Onto the trailer and home. I'll do a separate thread about the repair (once I work out what it is ), but the immediate problem was the bonnet wouldn't open because the front was pinched onto the front bar and would not release. Ultimately we unbolted the hinge from the bonnet, pulled it back a little and it released from the front OK. "There's your problem", the top radiator hose had popped off at the radiator.
    • Yeah that looks like great caster, but I'd suggest trying less front camber some time and seeing if it helps with braking without reducing mid corner speed too much
    • I ended up setting the rear 5mm higher than normal to give some clearance.  My plan is to run the least camber I can in the rear which I think with the extra width is going to need to be -1.75 to -2.00° just to get clearance.  Guards have been rolled and pulled as much as they can/I would be wanting to.  front has the Acostal knuckle with the KPI change and the drop etc. So should be okay with the existing settings I have run with AR1s etc Front: Toe total -2mm(1mm out each side) Caster +7.5° Camber -3.8° Ackerman +15°
