I'm just about to purchase a used Nismo Pro GT 1.5 way salavaged from a wrecked S15 from Japan.

It's not a TT.

I've just read on the Silvia forums that in general mechanical diffs only last 2-3 years on the street !

Crap, I hope this isn't the case.

My car only get driven once a week, and say 4 track days a year.

Any thoughts ?

I had a 1-way mechanical in my RB 180SX when I bought it, it was already worn would lock around corners when I put decent power into it.

From that point on, I took it to 2x motorkhanas, and did the usual 'enthusiastic' street driving *cough* and it felt like a VLSD by the time I sold it 2 years down the track.

Just keep changing the fluid, and it should last a good time.

  • 2 weeks later...

I had an OS Giken 1.5 way in my Skyline. The diff center out lived the gears and it still goes as if I bought it yesterday!

I got a good mate who's had a Nismo 2way in his Sil for over 4 years, he changes the oil in it once a year.

It has seen the death of 3x sets of gears

My 2 cents
