Rb26 Harmonic Balancer Removal

hey guys i need to know the size of the bolt for the removal tool on the harmonic balancer on an rb26.

Its the one circled in the pic its and m6? i think but i need to know what thread type it is.

any help is appreciated.

yeah M6 and I have only ever seen 1 thread pitch used in m6 bolts - so I don't think you can go wrong. just make sure it is long enough to bottom right out in the threaded section of the balancer, its a bit of a big job for an m6 bolt so you want plenty of thread contact....I've heard of people stripping the thread in the balancer which is "a bad thing"

That is a very "bad thing'. The bolts used to hold your timing cover on is the perfect size bolt to pull the balancer off. I have actually used to them once, and it worked better then I thought it would have! Plenty of thread on them as well.

thanks for the reply guys. got a pm from grigor saying they were M6 x 1.0 i brought a couple high tensile ones from the local bolt shop and worked a treat.
