AlexanderR32
hey guys i was driving home one morning giving it a heap , i didnt notice the tempreture but when i looked down it was on H ! i was about 300m from home so i put it in 5th and cruzed very slowly. i opened the bonnet and it was pissing out steam and coolant was dripping out from the back of the motor but wasnt exactly sure where. later on i got in there and had a look . i narrowed it down and i think i found where it is but cant get rite in there . it just under the last manifold at the back of the motor about 200mm down. ive tried to look underneath but the starter motor is in the way and i cant get the last bolt off ! and i dont want to start taking off the manifolds coz i no its a big job!! i no that this isnt much explanation but hopefully one of use have had the same problem and use could help ???? even if use could recomend me a place to go in perth that is a specialist in the whole cooling side of the motors. if use can help at all, it would be much appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nic_A31
Nice work champ Try harder to get that last bolt of for the starter motor...you got one off and gave up...you were halfway there. Manifolds aren't a massive job either, 12 bolts and some vacuum and water pipes. Pic of side of the block...probably just busted a hose, or it's come loose: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/IIIRII/DSC00665.jpg Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/306580-big-problem/#findComment-5067788 Share on other sites
AlexanderR32
yeah ill give it another shot tommorrow but its a really hard place to get to. its kind of im possible to get enough leverage and force to get it off lol!! is it possible i have cracked a manifold or anything like that ????? gazza750
sounds like the rear welsh plug leaking . It's a round plug at the rear of the head manifold should not crack from overheating but head could now either be cracked or warped Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/306580-big-problem/#findComment-5067840 Share on other sites
AlexanderR32
how can i get to the plugs with out pulling out the motor? if that is possible lol Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/306580-big-problem/#findComment-5067903 Share on other sites
Nic_A31
Easier to remove the starter and the intake manifold. Yeah, it's a tad hard the first time but it's the only way. Get a uni joint for your socket set, and it's pretty breezy. You'll need new gaskets or gasket paper while you're at it. bubba
It will be either the heater hose that runs behind the engine or the rubber hose that comes off a small metal pipe that sits under the back of the intake manifold (possibly turbo water feed, can't remember). I had the heater hose back there let go on the dyno pricks of things to change! and they're a molded hose if you really want to get picky. Nic_A31
No. Head gasket = breach between oil and water galleries = seized engine. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/306580-big-problem/#findComment-5072119 Share on other sites
Ehgriez
eh? motor doesnt always sieze. If your car is blowing smoke then you might want to look into it. Thats about as far as my knowledge goes on the matter. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/306580-big-problem/#findComment-5072162 Share on other sites
bubba
If you're concerned about headgasket, check for oil/water out the exhaust, check radiator for oil mixing in with the water and check the sump for water mixing in with the oil. Maybe a compression/leakdown test if you're really worried? I've had my RB30DET pretty hot.. blew a heater hose on the road one time and also boxing day burnouts last year water temp hit 105deg (this was well off the top of the stock gauge), 110deg - get worried, 120deg - boiling coolant.. this is probably where you will start to warp the head. Topaz
Something like this happened to me... leaking coolant at the back of the engine. I took it to Hyperdrive and they fixed it up for me, probably just a new pipe or something. Apparently it's common on the old 32's Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/306580-big-problem/#findComment-5072911 Share on other sites

MLCrisis
Glad to see you have got it fixed. Well done. Now, call me a miserable old git, but I cannot help myself ... ... ... ... i no that this isnt much explanation but hopefully one of use have had the same problem and use could help ???? I can ignore the "no" rather than "know", as an example of Twitter-youth mangling of our language. But the misuse of "use" , instead of "you" - for God's sake!!! It is the same number of letters, so it is no easier to type!! Just use the right word, why don't you??? Please, to save my blood pressure and be kind to the older generation, use "you" and not "use", because misuse of "use" is not useful! Cheers. bubba
The correct terminology to convey the concept of "use" that he attempting to utilise, would be "you guys" or "you people" etc. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/306580-big-problem/#findComment-5073237 Share on other sites
Ehgriez
or yous flamin mongrels?
