First Track Session - I Am Officially Addicted

Recommended Posts

Went to Barbagallo for the first time with my R35 last night for the No Limits night session run on the short track.

Not knowing the track and driving it at night was rather intimidating especially given the poor lighting but in any event I have been bitten by the bug and found myself on the phone today trying to order new brake rotors pads braided lines etc.

Does anyone know if anyone has the Endless MX 75's in stock BSM sports are out of them ...

I think vsport in Sydney stock endless pads for r35's

(ask for John, tell him duncan sent you :))

just finished fitting the AP curved slotted rotors and endless pads. vsport were very good thanks Dunc. Both Gary and John were great.

Tony from speedmaster was also very good.

I think a shipment of the endless pads is expected from Japan some time after the 24th Feb (they are out of stock currently - I think most vendors will be)

If inclined, installing the rotors and pads on all four corners was relatively simple though I took my sweet time (this was my first time ever working on brakes so took me a shade under 4 hours from car up to car down) I was a little OCD, certainly would not make any money as a mechanic working at that pace!

Thanks guys will give them a try on monday, were you happy with the upgrades you have done with the brakes Duncan ? DO you recommend also installing braided steel lines and better fluid ?

I've run both the AP slotted and jhook replacement rotors and i'm very happy, great value and robust product. I have a set of bradied lines sitting here (not installed) so i don't know if they will be an improvement. For fluid i use brembo lcf 600, i bleed after each track event, i go through a lot of fluid. There are some reviews on the US forums about cheaper fluid which i think is just as good. Worth looking it up on nagtroc.

p.s. the j-hooks are rather noisy on the street (click click sounds)

    • Working through possible solutions of converting my mechanical speedo.    Anyone know what type of speedo sensor the factory r34 gtr getrag has ? what the output is ? I assume its not a VSS and more a voltage like earlier speedo sensors ? Can an ECU read it ?

    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
    • It's not that straightforward. For example I have had this code because my ignitor/power transistor wires were unplugged. It knows something is wrong but has no idea what it means. If you want to actually diagnose this I recommend following the service manual flowchart for code 21. Ohm out the harness, coilpacks, inspect the ECU, etc. And again, it's entirely possible for there to be no problem at all but if you're running a different coilpack it'll trigger the code because it doesn't like what it sees.
