Hey guys just searched "v35 sedan" because Im interested in them, anyways I just got scattered posts and threads of info about it in the fourms so I was just making this one with some questions if people with knowledge could answer, also it would help in th future for others wanting to know about the sedans.... I'm pretty sure there something like this for the coupe v's.

Anyways some of the questions i wanted to ask was;

What are the variants of the sedans? (trannys, engine power, engines...etc)

Differnces between years/models?

-Do the sedans also have a update interior or/and engine for late models/series 2 (if there is any series 2's)?

Any specific options or gadgets between years? Iv read (very vaig) on some sorta special key or start stop button??

Common sedan problems?

That's all I can think of right now if any one wants to contribute don't hesitate to do so, cheers.

You can pretty well get the same things in a sedan as a coupe - same changes in engine between series 1 and 2. premium and standard models, 6sp manual and the auto options. The manual sedans do not get the brembo brakes option but otherwise are very similar. Exhaust system is slightly different and has large single rear muffler with twin outlets compared to the coupes horizontally mounted rear muffler and separate outlets. Sedan has slighlty more low down torque but slightly less top end power but you can hardly notice the difference.

Seating position in the sedan is way higher than coupe but again not significant unless on a race track ( and even then I wonder how much difference it really makes.) Sedans are way cheaper to buy but getting a good manual one is still extremely difficult simply because the Japs only produced manuals at the rate of 1car per 200 manufactured.

Inside the cabin they are damn near identical, in the front seats anyway. Obvoiusly rear head room is significantly cut by the sleek coupe rear end.

Ofcourse there is the obvious, the series 1 350GT-8 sedan (VQ35DE) being an 8 speed cvt auto, with known issues and very expensive oil. Also had paddles for the manual shifts. Post 2005 became a 5 speed auto, same as the coupe.

Also VQ25DETT and VQ30DE variants came with the 4 speed auto box.

Think you can put bigger wheels on the coupe.

5 speed autos came in pre 2005 as well. My previous 300gt (vq30) was a 5 speed 2001 model. And FYI series 2 sedans started in late 2004. I have one too.

Its standard on S2 sedans as far as I am aware. Its actually called the Intelligent key. If you have the chance to check out a Series 2 seda, have a look on the drivers side door and also the boot, there is a button there. If you have the key fob in your pocket, you just press the button to lock/unlock doors and bootlid. Same thing when you are inside the car, as long as you have the key in your pocket or close proximity, you just turn this knob next to the steering wheel where you would normally insert your key (keyless start).

    • Its a 2002 vr-x four VQ25DET, silver. Coil overs, lowered, polished alloys and sport exhaust. Bit of a project, was sitting in a shed for a while but runs and drives great.

    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
