I've fitted dual GTR bov's on my car. They work perfectly, as for sound, they sound excellent - very quiet. as far as sounding "exactly" like a GTR, I think you really need to mount them in the same position as a GTR (under the right hand front skirt) on the cooler entry and run the factory plastic solid return pipe etc.

I'm not after loud, i just want the sound. I still don't really know what i'll be looking for to fit these as i haven't got the engine yet, but where is the stock bov located on an R34 GTT? Can that setup be made to fit in the factory location, or will i have to move it?

Hi Guys, sorry to hijack the thread but are you using GTR bovs on RB25DET's just for noise or is there another purpose?

Will the standard RB25DET one handle 300rwkw?

Usually just replacing a dead factory one.

GTR ones are just stronger. Stock BOV might be fine either way. Plenty making 300rwkw on them.

Ok but that still sounds quite similar to the twin setup. I'm not really after the flutter effect, just the sound of the bov. Does your bov sound like that all the time, or just under heavy load?

Say i wanted to install the twin setup on my car, what would need to be done? Is it possible? How would it differ to the single setup?

MOST people don't use them just for the noise, rather the fact that they are a very very good bov and can handle a lot of boost. I personally love the sound of them, i think they are the best sounding bov you can get. So i'm going for the upgrade, but really want the sound as well seeing as they sound so good.

Ok the issue is room. Once you see the GTR BOV assembly you'll understand, there is not a lot of room with the return piping etc.

You have to have cooler piping that goes in/around the guard on the drivers side - that's where a GTR has them - POST cooler.

That BOV setup was when i had a single - running duals now in a different config however the BOV was right next to the throttle body (basically like a factory RB25 for all intents and purposes).

It would only blow off like that on 24psi, when it was doing 17psi it was nowhere near as pronounced.

Doubles differ to single as on low throttle the dual ones "bounce" off each other. Its very hard to explain unless you've heard a GTR on light/trailing throttle and back off. It does sound very cool IMO. No other BOV setup sounds like it as they are all single.

So it's not as simple as remove stock bov, replace with GTR bov and replace stock plumbing with bigger plumbing to suit GTR bov? I will have a FMIC with piping going from drivers side back over the fan shroud. What do i need to do to install the bovs?

I do understand what you mean with the "bouncing", i've driven a couple of GTR's that sounded great with their stock bovs. Made me fall in love with the GTR bovs :(

And what, just have them hang there? :(

They are the size of two grown mans hands roughly in terms of area (as you can see from the pic)

I'm going to struggle to see where you can mount something like that neatly in a factory GT-T/GTS-T position

    • Why are you so adamant on going M12? Why not follow Brad (GTSBoy) suggestion. You're talking moving from a 1/8" size, to a 1/2" effectively. 4 times bigger. Why skip the commonly available sizes in between? The bigger you go, the more likely you are to strip the threads out at a later date, as guaranteed, someone will put a huge spanner on the M12 and really tighten it up, and you're only in thin wall, so not a lot of threads to engage!
    • Hi. Yeah thanks. Car is already at tuners and it staying there to resolve "many" issues they do not like. So it is in a good hands. Getting a good tune on that Nistune ECU too so the car would be good. Just needs a little tune up and love.
    • Probably gonna remove manifold and turbo. I’m not sure if I can get M12 x 1.5 air tight. Could use high temp Loctite 246 or something similar, but I don’t know. Maybe it’s just best to remove everything again and weld an 1/8NPT on there instead.
    • Yeah, saw the ratios, not impressed. Would like the punch I have in the first gears now. With those ratios it won't be the same.  Also want the h pattern gearing, or at least a quiet gear set that don't need to come apart for service each year. Looks like the only "reasonable" way Is a 8hp70 transmission, but where is the fun in that🤷‍♂️
