Hi guys,

Had a lot of oil through the intake of my RB25DET lately so on Saturday I picked up a compression gauge and slowly cried on the inside six times over

Basically 1,2,3,5 were 118-120 and 4,6 were 80&90, a wet test brought compression up by 50-60 on all cylinders.

So, If i crack the engine and drop in some forged pistons what else should I look at replacing/upgrading, any valves etc? Pistons, head machined, head gasket are pretty much on my list so far.

Also what causes the rings to go, excess heat/age?

At the moment I'm still pricing up a few options so any input is appreciated.

Cheers,

Nick.

Id say it was det an youve damaged a few pistons.

Look at JE's or CP pistons, MLS head gasket and a FULL head reco (about $550 with guides etc). Get your valve springs checked too as rb25 (r33 not r34) have weak springs std and over time they can go soft.
