Hey everyone, some mates and I went to the Lake Grace farm on easter weekend and did some skids on a salt lake, also on a track we'd made in the bush paddock.

Since this is the first time I've posted these videos on SAU, here are the first two:

This one takes place last Anzac day. Some good footage of jumping the Excel (RIP), some rotor [dirt] drift. Also introduced to the civic-ute which is one of the only cars still running now.

Second movie, quite recent. Labour day weekend. There are a couple new additions here, a couple of 4L falcons. Also took out a Datsun, unfortunately this sheared its halfshafts shortly after arriving so there isn't any footage of it. Also a barina makes its way out there. I take a lot of dusty videos and my camera lens is now screwed. Oh this movie also has an old RWD Celica and the Excel burial.

And here is the new video:

Latest video, from the Easter weekend just gone. Some more drifting, and the salt lake was very muddy this time (as opposed to dusty and dry). Features Civ-ute, Celica, Falcon, Failcon and Christians Patrol.

ok enough rambling. Had some positive reviews from these videos, so enjoy!

both our falcons are autos

:D

just picked up a RB30 r31, that is our newest addition :)

currently in process of stripping, welding up a sidepipe, reinforcing the front, welding on braces and that sorta stuff.

Haha looks like great fun, i wish i lived close to those salt lakes :)

Just be careful driving in the bush if you are cutting off the exhausts, starting bush fires isn't cool

Yep we try to keep the cars that blow flames to have exhausts pointing upwards :) (rotor...)

We also have an actual firetruck we take out to the track during summer months. We've been well versed in fire safety :D

So far, yet to start a fire or roll a car.

Lol nice, sounds like you have it well under control.

haha, I'm leaving his comments there, I personally think they are hilarious.

Also if anyone has some good ideas for what to do to a r31 (rb30) to get it ready for bush bashing, let me know :ermm:

we are already looking at dodging up some turbo in the future for it, but for the time being we want to give it a little bit more power (exhaust, intake, anything else?), and reinforce the front end a bit, and possibly raise it up an inch or so

    • Working through possible solutions of converting my mechanical speedo.    Anyone know what type of speedo sensor the factory r34 gtr getrag has ? what the output is ? I assume its not a VSS and more a voltage like earlier speedo sensors ? Can an ECU read it ?

    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
    • It's not that straightforward. For example I have had this code because my ignitor/power transistor wires were unplugged. It knows something is wrong but has no idea what it means. If you want to actually diagnose this I recommend following the service manual flowchart for code 21. Ohm out the harness, coilpacks, inspect the ECU, etc. And again, it's entirely possible for there to be no problem at all but if you're running a different coilpack it'll trigger the code because it doesn't like what it sees.
