Apologies for showing enthusiasm re cruise 2nd May. Personally officer Neil can go over my stock 240K with a fine tooth comb if he likes. Hoon drivers, ego trippers and those intolerant of new members not welcome anyway. If your interested in a legal cruise and the opportunity to check out some fine rides then please contact me via PM or reply below. Thank you for the opportunity to organize this on your site.

Regards

Martin

Just to clear up something from my previous post one of you chaps commented on picking on the kid once then let it go, difficult to hear when you are a 42 yo 6'4" bloke. Good idea to meet for dinner and see if the same cheeky attitude is expressed there by some of the more beligerent members who commented. Would prefer R31 or older for this run anyway.

For future reference, please put some thought into your topic titles .... "Intelligent Responses" is not even close to acceptable - make your topic title very pertinent. Everyone (especially me) does not want to have to open your topic to see what it is about. Good luck with your cruise.

And for the record, your car can be 100% legal, yet if officer Neil wants to defect you, rest assured he will. He only has to suspect illegal mods (or any variety of unroadworthiness) and he will send you to Regency, when your slight oil leak at the rear of the engine is noticed, old/worn bushes will fail inspection, suspension components will be scrutinised (and on a 240k almost certainly fail in some respect).

Mate, if your shouting, I'm there!!

Welcome aboard Marty.

It is good to have someone showing enthusiasm, especially for the older rides. I would bring out my R31 GTS2 however I will be away that weekend.

Bear with us initially while you discover our forum etiquette... we do get a lot of toolbags (especially in school holidays) trying to arrange fully sick cruises etc.

And this is why our defect/roadworthy inspection system is up the shit. Too much faith in police discretion.

Thanks gents thats much more civil, have posted this cruise on Ozdat for sure. My vision was for Datsuns/ Nissans from the early 60's to current models to take part in this cruise as an exhibition of old school to current technology. If newish Nissan owners are only interested in cannonball runs and are rightly worried about being targeted by the cops then thats fair enough, I'm sure theres plenty of other cruises to suit that can be organised in stealth. Hopefully if the boys in blue are reading this they'll take into account the legal framework thats being applied to this cruise and show some encouragement for some enthusiasts enjoying themselves in a legal manner. My 240K won't be doing any burnouts as all it does is fry the clutch with hardly any wheelspin- not that I've ever tried it, sort of. Anyway I probably havn't given enough notice for there to be the numbers I would like. Unless I can get a lot more committed yeses its looking like I'll pull it.. so to speak.

    • Congrats on the career change!  I did something similar at the start of the year too, left IT / corporate after nearly 2 decades. Soooo when's the motor coming out for the spark plug change?
    • Hi guys, long time no post as per usual! It's been a busy year so far, the biggest thing being a new job.  After 28 years in the automotive industry I decided it was time for a change.  I was losing faith in the industry and where it's heading.  Now in a completely different industry (electrical) working for a company that manufacture water pump contollers.  Not as sexy as cars but it's an interesting,  challenging industry. I now don't work Saturdays which is a bonus!  It's still 50-55 hours a week but having Saturdays ack after 28 years of working them is awesome!   No news on the GT-R but i did decide to add some more JDM goodness into my life....           1990 300 ZX.  She's not perfect but for a 35 year old car she ain't bad!  Just going to tidy it up a bit and enjoy it.  It's currently auto but will start stockpiling everything for a manual swap. It WILL distract me even further from the GT-R but im hoping not for too long! It somewhat proves a 6'8" freak can fit in a 300 ZX.  Sort of...  I drove it home from the previous owners house in Melbourne via Black Spur and Merton Gap (2 awesome bits of Victorian twisty road) and it was amazing!  Handles so well!!!   I don't think it would be worthy of a full build page but I'll post up some of the upgrades here if anyone is interested?  Cheers guys!
    • End game is to: - Remove all the slop from old worn parts - Adjust setup so that the wheels actually fit and the car is drivable (currently it is not because of the extreme rubbing on the guards).   Progress over the last couple of days, removed the rear hubs! Next steps: - Buy bushings - Replace bushings/bearings on hub - Reinstall
