Hey All,

I have decided that I will organise a cruise up the putty road for the first Sunday in November.

This cruise will be a nice gental cruise as many haven't been up this road before and there are some quite twisty sections that could see someone come unstuck.

Please note that the most common legal speed sign along this road reads 100km/h, so it won't be a boring cruise at all.

I have some suggested meeting locations listed in the poll, however if the 6c option is selected then could someone please put their hand up to be a coordinator at this location.

The putty road will take approximatly a full day to complete both directions, so it is advisable to bring a passenger too keep you company. I will be planning a stop approximatly every two hours though to streatch legs etc.

I have done the trip up this road and back and had plenty of fuel to spare from a full tank, in fact I was even able to keep going to the Hunter Valley and drive around there for 3 days on the same tank!

Please post up who is interestered so I can work out more specific details.

Cheers,

Dan.

Ed,

I did think of that but wasn't sure due to it being a different to usual and a fair way off the beaten track (M4) meeting location.

Seeing as this has been surggested then we will make the meet at Windsor/Mcgraths hill Macca's on windsor road. (This means that I can still come down through Springwood rd!)

Silver,

As always the more the merrier.

Dan.

Ed,

Your right.

I just noticed that you are from orange. I was out there last weekend. I'll actually be there again in a few weeks. Maybe we can catch up for a beer next time I come out.

Dan.

Bonkers (GTS) I'm sure dad will come if his car is going by then.

Where is OZ, fatz (fatz can you see if Nath is interested?), exsist, Jordan, Red, kabab, RH9GTR, GDZOOK, Shell and any others that may be interested???? (hope I didn't miss anyone... if I did then I appoligise in advance)

Cheers all,

Dan.

Dan - count PranK's slow ass 180sx in!

Also, if you need me to be a coordinator, i'll do it - i have organised hundreds of cruises before.

hopefully i should have zorst, springs and cooler on by then... fingers crossed.

good to have you along prankster.

I might get you to take care of those that want to meet at 6c and guide them to windsor macca's. Will make plans at closer date.

Is that creature URMINE, or ONARUN interested?

Dan.

hey Dan

cruise sounds good!...trouble is, I'll only be getting back from QLD/Indy earlier in the week. So I'll most likely have no money left :D and will be wanting to spend the weekend at home after 10 days up there.

OR I might just be hanging out to take my car for a drive LOL :)

hmmmm, I think I'll have to say probably not...but if things change I'll find somewhere to stay and come up :)

Okay.

Is this the road to Singleton ?

If it is...how do you manage that on one tank ??? Its like 160km's each way.

I did the road Solo on Sunday arvo and I can persoanlly vouch for it...It would have to the most awsome piece of road I have ever driven on...nice long straights and super twisty stuff (kind of like a freeway with 3 or 4 Nasho parks join at intervals!

It's very very fast, the cars will be able to run clean out there. But make sure your tank is full, esp if you tend to high rev in the twisty parts.

Probably not a good night course as there was alot of road kill around, and a kangeroo hit at high speed is going to hurt the car alot.

I didn't see any cops around at all, but i would assume they patrol it heavily.

It's very easy to lose control and get into the high 100's without too much thought, so more expirenced driver should go first. This is one cruise which would need a strict protocol..For safety reasons I think we need to get someone to lead straight off and dictate the pace, and everyone to be orderly....If your wanting to go flat out, go another time by yourself solo..you'll enjoy it alot more...speeding on a cruise is just showing off..in my opinon.

Things I would suggest :

Check your brakes/fluid or upgrade to non-fade pads.

Check tyres

Bring water

Be good if someone could bring a CB, just in case.

check your car...its going to kill if you need a tow.

Theres a halfway point service station/food place which would be a mantory stop...it has PULP (phhheewwwwww!!!!...almost had to cruise slowly back..) too...which was good!!!

Remember we won't be the only people out there when it happens....please! please! - if you want to take racing lines, do it at the track.

I saw alot of 4WD's and bikers so use caution to both.

Have fun......Sorry if I sounded like a tool, but I can see the excitment in this road, and that can lead to hellva lot of danger for Schmie wannabe's

I think most importantly, if you enjoy flatout driving, learn the road on the cruise and go out late on a weekday night BY YOURSELF or just one more car.....just watch out for the wildlife.

ANDREW

Shell,

Well I'm sure that one day we shall meet... but this is an awesome road and is a must do... would be a shame for you to miss out.

Dino,

Would be good to have you along... and work on a Sunday... is this not blasfmey in the bible? Sunday is a day of rest (Skyline's excluded)

Peak,

Yep, this road will lead you to singleton alright!

It is easy to make it there and back on one tank... break your foot and let your girlfriend drive there (taking notes of the tight sections) and only use a 1/4 tank. Then tell her that you don't care about your foot... it doesn't hurt anyway (drive through the pain and spend almost every drop of the 3/4 that you have left!!!). The other option is to keep it out of the "peak RPM" range if you'll pardon the pun.

Carlo,

The road is a public road that streatches through the middle of knowwhere, it has some good and bad spots, but no dirt and mostly a 100kph speed limit.

All,

Peak has outlined some important points. As I have mentioned before, this cruise is intended to be just that. It is an oportunity for us as a club to get together and enjoy our great company, mechines, and of course a section of road that the RTA got right! This is a cruise that takes all day. now for all those that want to race up and down it I would like you to think of this. The average F1 race lasts 1 and 3/4 hours and this is the average time of a motor race... any longer than this and you end up having multiple drivers. Now the boys and girls that compete in such events are fit and do this for a job... ie they are PROFESSIONALS. Micheal Schumacher aside, they all always come out of the car dripping in sweat and are warn out.

If there arn't too many people coming then I will lead the pack at reasonable pace (ie at the speed limit or maybe 5 kph more). I will hopefully be able to get hold of a CB by then. I will try to get someone else with a CB to run at rear gunner just in case of any mishaps. If many people attend then we might let those that know the track go on ahead and I'll lead a slower group after them.

I hope that this has cleared up a few issues and I can't wait for this one baby!

Cheers,

Dan.

    • The car/ECU will have all the sensor that it needs and expect to have. I think i do not have to explain to you how the Link is way better specialy if you have swapped engine   I just do not want to deal with any "problems" cuz i have only Nistune which i learned is not that great and in my case cant even deal with that speed problem (Link can) And of course it will be way more easier to tune and diagnose and safe. And for the ECU/speed problem...i dont know.
    • Per Mark Roberts of Sonictune: Mark Robert Author At this time, no. No ETA either 2016-17 models. You will be able to purchase and install a 2018.5+ TCU though   TCU purchasing and pricing info! As we near the release of TCU tuning, I am going to answer some questions I get asked often.   What do I need for TCU tuning? At this time, you will need a 2018.5+ TCU to be able to tune. If you have a 2016-to early 2018, you will need to replace your TCU with the newer version. One good way to know if your TCU is good is if you have auto upshift in manual mode in 1st gear around 6500 rpms. If your manual 1st gear goes to 7k rpm and will hit the rev limiter unless you shift, you have the older TCU.   Why do I need to buy another ecu license/phone flash if I already have it on my ECU tune? The TCU is its own computer module. It is completely separate from the ECU. Because of this, you will be required to purchase a TCU license and, if your tuner has it, the phone flash license required to tune it via phone/bluetooth.   Do I need TCU tuning? TCU tuning is NOT required. However, the faster your setup, the more it will assist in track and dragy time consistency.   If I’m ECU tuned by (tuner A) can I get my TCU tuned by (Tuner ? Yes, since it’s a different module and a completely separate flash, you can have two different tuners. However, it is highly recommend that you have both tuned by the same tuner. For me, my TCU tuning will directly complement my ECU tuning style and features and running my ECU and another TCU or vice versa MIGHT cause some issues. At this time and for the foreseeable future, I will only be tuning my current ECU tuned customers TCUs.     I have a SYVECS AWD controller. Do I still need it? Yes! The AWD controllers main job is to control your AWD system. However, with TCU tuning, you will no longer need the auto-shift function as that will be done through the TCU. The AWD controller will still be very beneficial for racers looking to maximize traction on the launch.     Shift schedule changes: holding gears longer at lower pedal input as well as max shift rpm changes. Please note, the new ECU race rom coming out will address 90% of the shitty drivability issues these cars have through custom maps from myself and Racebox—as well as others I am sure.   Increase shift speeds: as seen in the videos I’ve been posting, the TCU shifts much faster once tuned.   Increased shift pressures: as also seen in the videos, much firmer full throttle shifts.

    • The fancy pants red shock tower brace is finally incoming from MX5 Mania, getting it shipped from 'Merica has been a long and problematic process, and GWR, the 'Merican supplier will not ship directly to consumers outside of the US, Mania basically had to order a heap of them, the colour choice was silver, or red, and we all know anything red adds 5 killerwasps of dynotorques..... Whilst it does fit over a 2.5, and I've seen a few photos and videos of it being installed and fitting, google also says it might get real close to the FAB9 intake front runner, people in the US says it does fit with the FAB9 intake, except for one person who said it slightly touched.......so there is that.....LOL..... As it seems that I am the first in AU to have this combination of parts there's no local knowledge about fitment, so I'm just a willing guinea pig in this endeavour, I'll cross my fingers and toes and hope for the best In other news, I ordered stuff from China  on the same day I ordered the 23° silicone bend from Victoria, the stuff from China arrived a day ago, the 23° silicone bend is still travelling around Australia thanks to Australia Post, and "may" be here next week
    • Very good news...I contacted Racebox about it last night. My car is a 2016 so remains to be seen if it is compatible, requires a TCU swap, or is impossible.
