xiaorpowr
just did a suspension swap put in some tein super streets. unfortunately the car is jacked up like a mofo. being a poor sucka atm, i didnt want to fork out $80 for a set of tein c spanners, so i got some generic c spanners from a bike shop. they kind of fit. unfortunately I've quickly come to realise they werent good enough. my hand just kept slipping which resulted me punching my car countless times and bruised and bloody knuckles. Anyways, i think i've done my fair share of swaring and punch. can anyone in sydney let me borrow some c spanners PLEAAAASSEEE! this is killin me. i've tried the hammer and screwdriver trick too, its damaging the rings without much movement at all! Duncan
I don't have a set of c spanners around...but some suggestions: Thoroughly clean the thread below the spring seat of any grit. Degreaser and a nylon brush should do the trick Once it is clean you only need to move the bottom ring about 1/8 of a turn and it should spin freely on the thread. So the c spanner are only really needed for the initial loosening and then tightening again at the end. The top ring should turn freely down until it starts to lock onto the lower ring again. If hammer and screwdriver won't dislodge it a c spanner wont be much good either Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/318028-help-a-brother-out/#findComment-5198664 Share on other sites
xiaorpowr
Brothels need all the help they can get too... But Help me first thanks for the tips, I've been using wd40 on the threads. I'm able to dislodge the bottom ring and likenu sad it springs freely by hand. It's The top one I find the most issues with. Can't fkn move it at all, i think it's cos of the spilrng tension pushing down on the ring? Duncan
sorry....i assumed! you should put a coil spring compressor on it first to take the tension off. For sure it will be a bastard of a job with the spring pushing on it! about $20 at super cheap Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/318028-help-a-brother-out/#findComment-5198702 Share on other sites

For sure it will be a bastard of a job with the spring pushing on it! about $20 at super cheap spring compressor activated... it at least moves a little bit, but it is SO rediculously hard to turn. Do others have teins and can you tell me about ur experience? surely they couldnt have designed something so shit that you need spring compressors and still barely adjust!!! or am i doing something wrong i was able to lower the rears, but the front is now killin my like cos there is hardly any space for compressors to go in... (and i dont think i lowered the rears enough =( F(@*@*#&@*!!!) have to go thru that shit again! SECURITY
pull the whole strut out. it would be 100x easier especially without the load of the car being on them. xiaorpowr
okay... adjustments done. some nice person let me use their Tein C spanners. valuable lesson learned - dont be a fkn tightass when it comes to specialised tools!!!! just pay for it and it will save you hrs of stuffing around and possibly reduce injuries.
