DAN00H
good project, the 1J should give you a nice hike in power over the RB20 are you going to stay with the stock twin turbos, or change to a big single? are you using the Toyota trans? xxjavaxx2001
as of the moment would maintain the stock turbos.. plan to change to 2 bigger turbos.. not 1 single.. Ericjayrol
Personally, I feel like you'd be taking out the heart of a skyline... but as far as power goes, it is a nice upgrade Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/318390-my-1jz-gte-powered-r34-4door-nissan-skyline/#findComment-5204002 Share on other sites
xxjavaxx2001
well.. id be spending way way more.. if i continue with a rb engine.. its so expensive. Ericjayrol
Its hard to argue that point, good luck with the conversion Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/318390-my-1jz-gte-powered-r34-4door-nissan-skyline/#findComment-5204262 Share on other sites
xxjavaxx2001
actually i was comparing it to the rb26 compared to the 1jz.. what i meant was.. the money i would spend in the 1jz would give me higher gains than if i spend the same amount on the rb26.. msports180
Very Nice!! Allways wanted to put a 2J into my old orange 34 4 door. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/318390-my-1jz-gte-powered-r34-4door-nissan-skyline/#findComment-5205794 Share on other sites
Ericjayrol
well, I don't know too much about how expensive toyota parts are, but it would seem reasonable to assume they are a lot cheaper than nissan parts. But are you also saying that the 1jz is easier to cheaply mod for better performance? Because im sure the RB26 has just as many parts out there to give it the same gain for similar prices, as far as aftermarket goes, just guessing though. Birds
Why do people feel the need to quote the entire post when replying to a large post, particularly when you're the first to reply? This is a pretty cool project. Props on going the 1JZ route they are brilliant engines and if it were worthwhile transplanting one into my R33 I would. xxjavaxx2001
Eric.. the parts of the 1jz are stronger.. by upgrading just the turbos add a boost controller and fuel reg.. you can actually raise the boost to 1.6bar.. which makes your 1jz engine have 580bhp with stock internals.. the rb26 cant handle that high boost with stock internals.. Ericjayrol
oh i see... so it offers easier modification while maintaining as much stock parts as possible and it can still withstand all the pressure put on the engine? Im young and still learning, so bare with me haha. Thanks for the information Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/318390-my-1jz-gte-powered-r34-4door-nissan-skyline/#findComment-5208523 Share on other sites

KURAUN
heaps of people know 1/2jz's can take more of a beating on standard internals over rb26's Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/318390-my-1jz-gte-powered-r34-4door-nissan-skyline/#findComment-5244694 Share on other sites

Mr Eps
well done man... and to all aussie guys questioning why he did this - in thailand, malay and phillipines.. the 1JZ is a very cheap and easy to access engine..
