I have a complete RB26DETT engine which has been modified to suit a vl (bolt it in and go - all it needs is a tune). In saying this - it would fit straight back into a Skyline with no hassles.

The engine is orginially out of a R32 GTR.

To make it suit a VL the following has been done:

* Custom Modified Sump (taking it from 4WD to just rear wheel).

* New Power Steering lines etc (all custom made to suit VL)

* Custom Throttle Cable

* Wiring loom modified to VL (designed to be hidden)

* All custom intercooler pipeing

* Custom front pipe to cat (2 into 1)

The setup comes with -

* Everything you need

* Vipec Plug and Play ECU

* Intercooler (GTR cooler) and pipes to suit (inc clamps and hoses)

* Drift BOV

* Wiring Loom to suit Vipec and VL (Vipec is the GTR version - looks completely stock).

The engine has been stripped down, checked, cleaned and put back together with all new gaskets etc. Anything that needed to be replaced did.

I have detailed this engine from ground up.

The covers have been smoothed where needed and painted in clear over base custom Silver.

Lots of bits and pieces polished by a professional (Twin Turbo Pipe, fuel reg etc).

Everything else such as water lines have been hand polished.

Nuts and bolts have been replaced with all brand new stainless steel.

Many hours and bucket loads of money have been spent to make this engine look the part and work 100% for a VL. It wouldnt be hard to get an engineers on this as its still fairly stock.

To get the engine alone and make it suit a VL without doing the detail I have done usually costs 7k straight up.

Once dynod these engines in this condition and simple mods that are on this should get around the 220 rwkw - 250rwkw. With more simple mods it can get a lot more without spending BIG dollards.

All the hard work is done for you - its a simple drop it in and go. It was going to be a show/street car with all the right things done.

I am sure I have probably left out lots of info, but please if you have any questions just ask.

No expense has been spared here. You can see from the pictures how many hours has gone into this

Below is a run down of costs that I have spent on this engine over the period its been mine, and you can also see the value for money.

RB26DETT Engine itself - $4500 (have reciepts)

Vipec Plug and Play - $1800 (have reciepts)

Custom Front Pipe to cat - $350

Power Steering Setup - $500 (Have to spend this to convert it to work for a VL)

Custom Hidden Wiringloom - $700

Cooler Pipes - $900

Polished Twin Pipe - $150

Other Polished parts - $150+

Custom Sump - $300

BOV - $200

Total $9550

And of course - that isnt including all gaskets and replacement parts I needed to get, or the detailing work either. Stainless steel bolts and painting etc - that all costs money. Plus hidden costs of throttles cables etc. Plus any labour i may of had to pay - as you can see Id be saving you money and time (LOTS of it)

Engine is currently in the car which is un useable on the road. Inspections are welcome, you can hear it running etc. The winning bidder will need to be aware the engine wont be available for pickup straight away as I will not be taking it out unless it sells.

I am open to offers above 7k. Will also consider a swap for stock RB30ET plus cash my way. I am wanting to put the VL back to stock and sell it.

Any questions please feel free to email anytime - [email protected]

Cheers for looking.

hi mate,

Very slightly OT, but can you explain what they did to the power steering to fit the VL (which is alow pressure system isn't it?)

very well detailed engine btw!

Hi Kent,

From memory there wasnt a lot that needed to be done. Just costs in buying the parts. It has an R33 GTST pump and just new lines made for it. Also, because I moved the battery we had to relocate the Power Steer bottle etc, so its modified to suit that. If you would like more detail, I can contact the person who did the power steering to get a more a better explination.

Cheers,

Matt

    • To expand on this to help understanding... The bigger/longer the block is, the more it's going to work to sit on your far away high areas, and not touch the low stuff in the middle. When you throw the guide coat, and give it a quick go with a big block, guide coat will disappear in the high spots. If those high spots are in the correct position where the panel should be, stop sanding, and fill the low spots. However, using a small block, you "fall off" one of the high spots, and now your sanding the "side of the hill". Your little block would have been great for the stone chips, where you only use a very small amount of filler, so you're sanding and area let's say the size of a 5/10cent piece, with something that is 75*150. For the big panel, go bigger!   And now I'll go back to my "body work sucks, it takes too much patience, and I don't have it" PS, I thought your picture with coloured circles was an ultra sound... That's after my brain thought you were trying to make a dick and balls drawing...
    • Oh I probably didn't speak enough about the small sanding block for blocking large areas.  In the video about 3 minutes in, he talks about creating valleys in the panel. This is the issue with using a small sanding block for a large area, it's way too easy to create the valleys he is talking about. With a large block its much easier to create a nice flat surface.  Hard to explain but in practice you'll notice the difference straight away using the large block.
    • Yep I guessed as much. You'll find life much easier with a large block something like this -  https://wholesalepaint.com.au/products/dura-block-long-hook-loop-sanding-block-100-eva-rubber-af4437 This is a good demo video of something like this in use -    You have turned your small rock chip holes into large low spots. You'll need to fill and block these low spots.  It's always a little hard not seeing it in person, but yes I would go ahead and lay filler over the whole area. Have a good look at the video I linked, it's a very good example of all the things you're doing. They went to bare metal, they are using guide coat, they are doing a skim coat with the filler and blocking it back. If what you're doing doesn't look like what they are doing, that's a big hint for you
    • The odometer does go up when driving.  Does this tell it is an issue with the speedometer itself?    Where can I look for replacement cluster? Or speedo? I can likely do the repair.. Will ER34 cluster work on HR34? Or do I need a HR34 20GT S2 specifically lol
    • Mine's a bit bigger at 70x150mm roughly. The spots are flat, just can feel the edges if I dig my nail into it. I did fix some other other ones by both using my finger to sand that small spot (I'm a bit wary of doing this and creating hot spots and a bigger mess) and I also did sand over it flat and others, but this also worried me a bit because if I create an overall low spot on the panel on paint that is good.  Correct me if I'm wrong but as long as it's flat even if I can feel the edges, I can put filler because it will all be level once I sand it? I can see myself going in a circle after sanding guidecoat with 320 grit if for example the panel is flat with my hand but because I sanded the guidecoat I could have created a low spot again somewhere. Unless where I'm going wrong is what I mentioned previously where I didn't go low enough on the grits. It's 1 step forward and 2 step backwards here haha. I'll probably need to experiment with it more. Last time I go back to bare metal lol.
