lol cheers for the plugs you guys, I'm embarrassed!

Tell your mate to give me a buzz and I'll ask around and see what's available locally for him. I don't carry my stock but I still have the mad hook-upzzz with dealers.

He decided to settle on private interstate buys lol friggin knuckle head!

I told him to get the full stateroads inspection also, that saved my life on my last car as i scored a real beauty in NSW.

I was in a similar situation before, was looking at private vs importing.

Ended up importing through Iron Chef. Everything was smooth and he is awesome to deal with.

Few little quirks but that was not his fault at all, everything was back on track quickly!

Glad I imported through him, car has been checked out by a local Evo specialist shop and they reckon its one of the better 7's they've seen.

I'm now in love with it

Only thing that turned me off purchasing interstate was that the money needs to be paid up front and its virtually the same as importing besides being a lot quicker.

You also have to budget in stock parts for the car as most are modified in one way or another. Also probably costs more purchasing a car compared to importing.

Importing allowed me to save money while the car was coming over to pay for insurance, rego, stamp duty, insurance etc..

Also person I know bought a 33 GTR interstate, saw it in the flesh. Purchased it, dropped it off at the depot. Picked it up at the Perth Depot. Drove it around for about 30 mins. Gearbox went clunk, opened the gearbox and 3rd gear was smashed. Was fine before it left and had only 2km difference in odometer readings before and after picking it up.

Omport a car. At least you can trust the tight rules in Japan as to the history of the car.

Here most cars get their clocks wound back. And have no history that can be trusted.

The super high k cars at auction that are immaculate sell for almost as much as legit low k car's as clocking them is so easy.

Go to Sydney or Melbourne like I did, much cheaper and you can get them mostly stock as well.

LOL.....Sydney is the best are getting 150,000km cars in Japan, and them coming in with 55,000km haha.

If he does go interstate, be REALLY anal about checking the car. If it reflects the k's than go for it, but there are plenty of tell tale signs of the cars being wound back.

you should look locally as there are some nice R33 coupes going for around about that price mate.....this is what a quick search on car sales brings up :)

    • Definitely a hearty eater when we go out, I consider these meals my cheat day as I've been watching my calories in and calories out pretty hard since my little fun size stroke, I've gone from a fat boy of 89 Kg, I'm only 165cm tall/short, down to a almost semi lean 73 Kg over the last few years, I'm currently around 17% body fat which my doctor is very happy with, but, my goal is to slowly get down to and maintain 15%,so yeah, I want all of the protein, carbs, fats and sugars when I go out for a binge
    • There was a great one on Victoria Rd in Gladesville too back in the day. I can only assume GTSBoy is thinking of the mill up on the wollondilly, no restaurant there any more but they have restored the original steam engine on site and run it every few months, have an annual steampunk festival etc @The Bogan, you came to the wrong town for restaurants. we have a few reasonable asian and indian options but the Paragon is as good as it gets otherwise. That brewery is apparently just opened, been meaning to give it a go some time. The Highlands have plenty of fancy options but I suspect you are more a hearty eater than fancy eater
    • Thanks for coming back to post the update, maybe it will help out the next person!
    • Going by the intake & injectors I'd be guessing it's a DE, check the head casting number, should be 5L8 on a DET, 5L7 I think is the DE number.
