mine is either dim or off

would love to know if there is any way to brighten it up also, its a great brightness for country roads at nite but useless in the city or any road with street lights

Same goes for my R34GTT, instruments to bright at night, centre consol lights, especialy climate control, way too dim by day, if these are normal, in anotherwise terrific car, WTF were Nissan thinking when they did/didn't do this.

pretty sure my 32 had a dimmer too, or maybe it was my s13 (but may have been aftermarket)

i know that if you put led's in you cant dim them

I am at a loss to understand why Nissan did not fit a dimmer switch.

My R30 has one, and, you can put the electric windows up after the ignition is turned off.

Both those features are well appreciated and must have cost a pittance at manufacture.

actually its my 31 that has it, dam useful it is too

Has anyone fitted one??? If so how???

I recently read a post on SAU where someone had the steering column covers orf and they found the switch taped up underneath, I immediatly checked mine==nothing however there are a number of vacant sockets under there any of which could be the one, WTF would know --?

My S2 doesn't. But interested in doing it.

Fyi check out the maxima/micra/exa/bluebird(aka sentra) etc in the 94 - 2000 range at the wreckers

dimmer switches are a dime a dozen and all the same, also fits the stag dash socket perfect.

Found my self a fog light switch last week and lotsa blanks to have for spare.

I'm pretty sure many import Nissans don't have it. I think it used to be part of compliance to fit a little pot that would dim the dash. My GTI-R had one that was definately fitted by compliance, but it was imported before all the compliance rules changed. Pretty sure my 260RS doesn't have any dimmer and it was imported after the rules changed.

FYI: I had LEDs installed in my cluster for a short while, and they are far too bright: very distracting when driving, and bright enough to give me headaches when driving more than half an hour at night. I find the centre console birghtness adequate, but believe it could be a little brighter. My Dolphin instrument cluster is the perfect brightness, but unfortunately is backlit in orange, so at night, my dash looks like the Las Vegas strip: orange instruments, blue defis, green console lights, different blue and green on the cd player, and different blue ana orange on the AVC-R.

In contrast, my V35 looks great with its massive stack of orange lights on the centre console, which actually matches (hooray!) the lights in the instrument cluster...

I have not done it yet but it is on the list. My gauges have different colour globes. You can get coloured sleeves to slip over the light. Red, blue and green. So you can have all one colour iin the console instrument cluster.

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
