Hey Guys and Girls,

Amongst the other stagea stuff today I found a Digital Air Con Control Unit.

It is missing one of the buttons but other than that is in great condition.

Chasing $35 + postage

Located on Sunny Coast if you want to pick it up probs cheaper to post.

Pm me or post on topic

Kails

Sorry mate, I didn't even know there was a difference between them :S

not your fault Kaliea....and I didn't know either until I got this one. Both are the same on the front.

I'll post pics tonight, but the difference in colour of the socket is pretty simple....this one is black, I need the white one :)

i'll take it :)

only really need one of the buttons off it, so don't care what plugs are on the back :)

is it in Sydney now?

if so, where abouts?

i might be able to pick up

cheers

Hi Stooge,

Did you end up getting the climate control unit? If so, can I talk you into possibly scavenging some parts off it for me please??? :P Please excuse the thread reply instead of a PM, I've just joined up (for reasons which will soon be clear) and need 10 posts before I can PM. So thread-reply it is!

Backstory - I don't have a Stagea - I've got a 99 Pathfinder. But it's got the same climate control unit as that. I've also been a Silvia owner in the past, so am familiar with the hassles of finding local parts for an import! Anyway, my climate unit has blown a couple of the little bulbs inside it, and I'm trying to track down a replacement set. Nissan Aus only sell the climate unit complete, but my spare parts guy managed to track down a set of the 6 bulbs ex-Japan, the only downside was the $90 they wanted for them  . I had resigned myself to trying to buy a whole climate unit second hand, and started searching around when I noticed that my unit was the same as some imports. A bit of googling later, and I found this thread. Since you were only interested in one of the buttons, I'm hoping that you've still got the unit, and can be talked into parting it out!

Am happy to pay whatever you think is reasonable. If this is agreeable, please feel free to get in touch - probably easiest if you could PM me your email address and we'll go from there!

Thanks mate - hope to hear from you soon!

Matto :O

    • Yeah and hence my ghetto way of slamming the brakes, get the ABS to cycle, rebleed seems to be a sensible workaround.
    • Hey! Happy to help. Nothing inherently wrong with the adapter, it's more so with Brett Collins himself. He gave me a lot of incorrect information when I was in contact with him and was extremely rude when I challenged him. He stated I could not use any aftermarket twin plate clutches except for his own, not to use the dush shield, bla bla bla and it was all BS.  Collins stated to cut roughly 14mm's off the housing, I took off 15mm to make room for the dust shield. I would confirm with whatever adapter manufacturer you're using.
    • There's plenty of OEM steering arms that are bolted on. Not in the same fashion/orientation as that one, to be sure, but still. Examples of what I'm thinking of would use holes like the ones that have the downward facing studs on the GTR uprights (down the bottom end, under the driveshaft opening, near the lower balljoint) and bolt a steering arm on using only 2 bolts that would be somewhat similarly in shear as these you're complainig about. I reckon old Holdens did that, and I've never seen a broken one of those.
    • Let's be honest, most of the people designing parts like the above, aren't engineers. Sometimes they come from disciplines that gives them more qualitative feel for design than quantitive, however, plenty of them have just picked up a license to Fusion and started making things. And that's the honest part about the majority of these guys making parts like that, they don't have huge R&D teams and heaps of time or experience working out the numbers on it. Shit, most smaller teams that do have real engineers still roll with "yeah, it should be okay, and does the job, let's make them and just see"...   The smaller guys like KiwiCNC, aren't the likes of Bosch etc with proper engineering procedures, and oversights, and sign off. As such, it's why they can produce a product to market a lot quicker, but it always comes back to, question it all.   I'm still not a fan of that bolt on piece. Why not just machine it all in one go? With the right design it's possible. The only reason I can see is if they want different heights/length for the tie rod to bolt to. And if they have the cncs themselves, they can easily offer that exact feature, and just machine it all in one go.
