Hey guys,

recently I pulled my motor out of my r31 and decided to put it into a r34. I have bought a r34 now but I would like to know the issues I may face in doing the conversion. Surely someone here has already dropped a 30 into a 34 so would be good to get some knowledge of guys who have been there done that already.

Are there any clearance or looming issues? any majors?

all information will be helpful.

thanks guys

Hey guys, the clutch issue you say? Well i have all running gear from my r31 which was initially r33 rb25det. It has a rb25de r32 head. And to answer the question it is a rb30DEt

p.s. that link pretty much advertised the car and specs, didn't have too much on the actual build or issues it had. I have basically a fully built motor ready to go in with all running gear just need to clarify what issues i might come across when doing the conversion.

I have heard there's issues with the bonnet closing with the standard "J pipe" as it fouls with the bonnet, to get around this you either have to cut the bonnet support or go front facing plenum. I'm not too keen to do either lol has anyone considered getting custom mounts to lower the engine level?

If it's RWD then you can slot the engine mounts to drop it down some.

Also the fouling I had (in my 32) was not the J-pipe, but the most forward corner of the intake plenum, and the lip of the timing belt cover.

Oh yeah so i can get away with lowering the mounts? thats a bit of a relief might even look at getting some aftermarket mounts/bushes while im at it since i will be saving the money from not going front facing.

Do you guys know if there is any major wiring issues?

Im also using a Link G4 ecu which was previously on a r32 loom, I would like to keep all the factory r34 gauges in working order to give it the "factory" appeal.

    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
    • Hi.. Just another problem. So maybe you can help. I(my mechanic) done swap from my RB20DE NEO to RB25DET NEO. Everything is OK but we have a boost cut. Coils/Plugs are ok...AFM is ok. ECU is ok. I have Walbro 255 but it "changed" sound few months ago(you can hear it ouside) you did not hear that when it was new(maybe faulty?) Sooo...what now? What can cause this boost cut? It is even when you standing still...
