Hey guys,

I've done a search but didn't really find an answer to my question...

I'm currently looking for an ECU for my R34 GTT, and the options i've narrowed it down to are PowerFC, Nistune, and an ECU i have only recently discovered, Adaptronic.

My preferred option would be a PowerFC, but they are very rare for R34's, and the absolute maximum i would pay for one would be $1300 with hand controller. So i will keep my eye out for one right up until i purchase an ecu, but i have all but ruled out finding one completely.

Now i had pretty much decided to go with Nistune as AllStar Garage quoted me $950 fitted and tuned, which seems like a good price. But then i discovered the Adaptronic e420c ecu, which from what i have read about it, seems like quite a good computer. This is the website: http://adaptronic.com.au/products/e420c.html

Can anyone tell me a little bit more about the e420c and what all it can do, and how it compares to how good Nistune is and what Nistune can do?

what do your local tuners use and support (and can tune?)

no point getting a MOTEC if no one around you can tune it or they will charge $2k to tune it

likewise with any ECU option, even the powerfc or adaptronic - they are useless if your local tuners cant do tune it or charge through the ass to tune it

my pref is powerfc (see my sig for powerfc faq and online hand controller emulator)

for your car i would go nistune but if you want a cheap adaptronic i have one here;

the new E1280s is a real work of art and would embarass many of the better known ecu's around.

AllStar Garage are my preferred tuners, they are incredible with most ECU's.

At this stage i am leaning towards the Nistune because i know AllStar are great with them, and i know a lot more about them. I just wanted to find out more about Adaptronic because the unit is around the same price of a fitted and tuned Nistune, which isn't bad. If it is a better unit than Nistune then i would like to look into it more, but if not than i'll continue looking for a PFC or go for a Nistune.

That will work on a Series 1 RB25det?

How much for tuning on top of the end price?

Also, which Z32 ECU is best for a Nistune? Does it really matter?

Seconding this, does it matter much which z32 ecu is used? 41p04 was labeled as preferred in another thread but i just wonder why

    • So either way it is gearbox out and look what is wrong?  I know about the input shaft bearing. Even before swap/new clutch the it sounded exactly like this: So is that inout shaft bearing or the other was installed backwards?  And can some please tell me the part number for that input shaft bearing? The gearbox is small box from R34 N/A and number is FS5W71C. Thank you
    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'
    • D2 and Ksport are essentially the same thing and basically just generic Taiwanese manufacture. Better than ChinaBay crap, but... not top shelf. Öhlins have got to be some of the best dampers around, so likely to be a good option. It's going to get to the point though where I suggest you buy from Oz. We have at least 2x excellent options here. If I were you though, I'd be talking to KW about doing something for the R33. There's bugger all difference between that and the 32. In GTR land, anyway.
    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
