paulr33
the smic vs fmic has been debated TO DEATH already yes any core (or no core at all) can dyno 200rwkw or even 300rwkw its the repeated loading it up on the street which is where the fmic will walk away from the smic given his ambient temps the bigger the core, the better Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/323588-detonation-pining/page/2/#findComment-5279673 Share on other sites

They can easily withstand mild modification if a fmic isnt an option (be it legality or fitment issues) ARC, Trust and Nismo all designed aftermarket sidemounts and no doubt did extensive testing to support their reason for production of these. R TUNE
ok lets get it back on topic. It's my choice to SMIC so we will leave it at that. How can i tell if the coilpacks are dying? How can i tell if the coilpacks are dying? you start misfiring over 4000rpm and (in my case) would misfire when car had been driven for 30mins+ and had warmed up. Ultimategtr
Take it to a dyno, take 2-3 degrees out of your timing. Easily done in 5 mins. If it still pings, might be your fuel pump.
