what brand of filter? it sounds like maybe.... (if its a wet/oil soaked type air filter like K&N) that a bit of the oil is being sucked through the afm and messing with the readings. causing rough idle/missing etc..thats my 2cents anyway

If it was wet type, he'd still have the problerm after removing the filters, is sticks on there, if it was sucking that much in, he'd have to drown the filters in oil...sure he isnt that silly ?

Give the sensor in the AFM a clean with some CRC and reset your ECU.

Running a tune ?

Air leak somewhere perhaps?

Also. Straight 5-56 CRC lubricant isn't a great idea.. everything sticks to CRC. proper way to clean an airflow metre is to take it off the car, get CRC Mass Airflow Sensor cleaner. Clean it, let it dry, and put it back on.

Maybe try borrowing someones filters to put on? Doubt it's the filters though, but that will rule that out. If that doesn't work, maybe borrow their AFM's and see if that fixes it... Just eliminate possibilities

hmm its possible the ecu may need a retune. if it comes back start at the cheapest options and work your way up from there, as stated earlier borrowing parts is a cost effective way of eliminating potential causes.
