Hi Guys,

Just got COD WAW today and it is really really laggy. All the videos play fine (the introduction videos of the storyline) but as soon as the finish my screen goes black and nothing happens. I have Vista and upgraded video graphics and sound cards but not sure what they are exactly.

Thanks guys.

I know it has 3GB RAM, Intel Core 2 Duo and I know it has upgraded sound, video and graphics cards but I cant tell you what they are as I don't know. I might be able to find out I'll look into it later. Also its a Dell Studio 1537.

(I don't know what cards are in it because my parents bought it for me for Christmas and they got it customized for gaming)

Thanks Guys,

hmm dunno how you'd upgrade the video card on a laptop, all the ones I've ever seen are integrated onto the motherboard lol. Check out the minimum specs and cross reference to the gear you've got to give you an idea whether you're underpowered or not.

The one other thing I have seen on XPS laptops is that sometimes Windows causes them to 'throttle' the GPU clock when using it for games. One of my workmates found this out when he couldn't work out why Supreme Commander 2 was so laggy to scroll lol.

EDIT: i just noticed that it lists your video card as being a Radeon Mobility 3450 - my work computer has the desktop equivalent lol. It's not much of a games card at all. This is probably where your problem lies as far as I can see

The video card isn't up to scratch for that game. The video stories with run smooth on most computers, but when you play it, the video card must render each frame at a time.

To make do with what you have, download the latest drivers for that card here

Then download the latest DirectX drivers for that card here

Reboot the PC

Go into then settings/video options within the game and drop everything as low as you can. You will then at least get the game flow to stop stuttering and run smooth, but the detail will be down.

Turn off stuff like anti-aliasing and shadow effects.

From there, bump up the resolution settings bit by bit, try the game and continue rising the reso til you find the sweet spot.

Enjoy. The COD series is great. COD4 was the best IMO.

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
