Hey everyone,

Well Im a few weeks from finishing my tune and with the current street tune I noticed the Auto isnt liking one little bit. I checked the fluid level and the level is fine. Its the colour that is concerning.

Its more of a chocolate brown / red... imagine a melted Cherryripe :)

So first thought was "Just get a service".. but after reading a little on the forums and watching some stuff on Youtube. Im now sold on a Shift Kit ;)

Ive read a few things about the guys and girls in Adelaide visiting MV Automatics for a Kit.

I was wondering where I should/could go up here in QLD.

Note: Yes, I would love a manual. No, I dont need a manual. :D

Cheers, Aerron

hey mate

ive had these kits in 2 of my rs4's.... best value for money ever... kidafa used to think...."what... going to the drag strip or?"

then i finaly got him to get one in his... and he loves it... picked up 25 or 30 kws at the rears with that and a highflow cat!!! go fuigure!

i think mike will send you the shit and all you need to do is wack it in... i rekn he would talk you threw it... either that or just get an auto shop up there to put it in!

Hi Aerron, i got mine done up here in Brisbane at Western Suburbs Automatics at Rocklea, might be a bit out of the way for you though. i got the service and shift-kit done at the same time, its like having a new gearbox, nice solid shifting, definitely needed when chasing more power.

Hey,

As I know squat about Auto's Id more then likely get a Trans shop to do it for me.

As it WILL require a service/flush BAD.

The biggest incentive to do this is to go to the strip :D

Need to kick a mates SS(Common-door-poo)

Hey buddy,

I remember talking to you on the Cruise the other week. I was hoping you'd reply.

I rung them last week and the guy was abit of a.. nob.. to say the least(PMS maybe?)

I dont mind doing the hike if they have done it previously on a Stagea and your happy with it :D

You wouldnt happen to have the details of your kit? Receipts might have the details?

Thanks

I presume you are going to change the fluid when you get the shift kit. The brown colour means it has overheated and is no good.

Yeah, I was shocked by the brown colouring :whistling:

Me + Auto = headaches. Give me a Manual anyday...

Trans Shop will be doing all the work for me. + I like the idea of some form of garentee/warentee.

For that piece of mind :)

when i rang up they where pretty helpful, when i first mentioned it was a stagea i don't think he knew what it was, but then i explained it was basically the same as the R34 skyline tiptronic auto, and told him the transmission number i got off the build plate (RE4R01B i think it was) he then said they were familiar with the gearbox and had done the valve body upgrade on a few of them before. i scoured the forums for ages looking for places in brisbane with experience on nissans, this was the only place that i found mentioned on SAU for QLD.

the only thing was they had my car for 1.5 days, dropped it off monday morning and didn't get it back till 11am tuesday. i don't know if it was because they were busy and didn't finish it on time, or if the job just takes that long to do. it didn't bother me anyway as i had other means to get around. there isn't much in the way of details on the receipt, just says "Remove and Refit and Modify Valve Body to Heavy Duty Valve", also mentions having a 3month warranty on work done, i can pm you a scanned copy if you still want to have a look, let me know.

Cheers for that. Yeah, Turn Around Time doesnt bother me, provided its not like 20x hours labour :D

I rung a place thats local here on the Coast. He said he's never done a Stagea before.

I should visit him in the morning and explain its 99% a Triptonic 34.

I rung him last week and he had did abit of a search for me. Said theres no Listing for Stagea's.

Stupid me not mentioning the "Same as a 34 GTT" :D

But he did mention something about removing the Valve Body and Modifying it...?

I also enquired about a service, he said, "..seeing as the Pan will be off and its Half Way there, I'll only charge for the Filter + what ever fluid is needed to flush.."

He said he wants to see what box it is just to confirm the model. As One Model has 6x Valve Bodies and the other has 1x. I'm hoping its the Series 1 box that has 6x?? :ermm:

He also mentioned about going to whole 9 yards and going Kevlar Bands etc... Est $1500...................

My reply, "I'll pass." :P

I'll visit him in the morning and see how I go. If all fails I'll visit Western Suburbs Automatics :ninja:

Thanks, Aerron

    • I've heard the Tomei USA head gaskets are decent if you want to o-ring the heads but otherwise not recommended.
    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
