Hey guys im new to this site.

i bought my R32 gts- t not long ago and im stressing about getting a road worthy for it.

would they screw me for the holes i drilled to fit the piping for the cooler?

drift handbrake?

pod filter?

blow off vavle?

Because they say you aloud to have one air intake. Would the cooler be ok with the holes?

Post up some pics so we can see what you've done,

Blow off valve to atmosphere is illegal in qld, so is a un sheilded pod filter. (should be in a box etc)

not sure about handbrake

and what holes for the cooler? did you cut through the front panel to put the pipes through. If so then yes this is illegal

Depends on how strict your mechanic is... If they pass everything and give you the RWC, VIC Roads can't knock you back unless their mechanics come out to check it... But I'd doubt they come out.

If I were you, I put the stock air box and BOV back on, you should be able to get away with the front mount intercooler as you can have 1 intake mod in VIC.

Cutting holes is not a good thing, but you could probably hide that...

Or the best thing to do is return everything back to stock and put it on after.

Putting the spring back in the hand brake should be easy for your mechanic, best you have it...

Which VIC Roads you taking it to get looked at?

hey thanks for you reply, well first i have to get a road worthy then ill be taking it to sunshine vicroads. I can possibly hide the holes with some rubber around them so it isnt noticeable. The BOV is risky do you think they will say anything about it.?

So you bought the car and you obviously want to register it in your name yeah..?

If so, then yeah just hide the hole and you'd be fine.

You BOV looks hidden... Where is it located?

I don't think VIC Roads are gonna go Revving / test driving your car, as the car is switched off whilst inspecting the car.

So you BOV won't be heard and if you have hidden it, then you'd probably get lucky...

From my experience when all goes well, mechanic gave me the RWC, took it to VIC Roads in Carlton, the office / inspector guy comes out to look at the car...

Checks the engine and chassis numbers, writes down all + any other numbers they need.

See that you have a RWC.

Fill out all the forms, paper work on their system.

They give you the VIC rego plates and rego sticker, you pay $600+ or whatever for rego, stick it on the widnscreen and screw your plates in, off you go...

ALL CLEAR!

The times I have been to Carlton VIC Roads the seem to don't really care much, as their job is boring and all they do is paper work.

They are not mechanics, so that's why you need the RWC to say the car is roadworthy, cuz they won't know the difference between a wheel and a tyre

Basically if you have the RWC, your pretty much in the clear, this is usually the case.

Keep in mind when a car is stock, it makes things easier to pass, cuz your mechanic is the one who is going to pass you in the first place with the RWC.

Speak to them and see how you go and if things need going back to stock standard, get them to do it.

Return it back to legal mods after you succeed the rego.

thanks for commenting bruv :) i took your advice with covering the holes up and getting a factory airbox, and leaving the BOV on. I hope it works out because i want to get him on the road asap. I would go to Carlton vicroads but its a lil far for me, but if they arnt strict i might aswel.

vic rds here dont even come out to look at your car if your just taking it in to put in your name,

+1 If it is already registered.

If it isn't registered yet, Vicroads will only look at VIN and Engine number.

As for intercooler hole, your RW Tester may ignore it or tell you to get engineer certificate for the hole - since you have 32 and doesn't come with airbag you should get the cert easy.

If yours is the one pictured with hole on battery tray, put the battery there and hook it up then hope for the best.

Since when? Last time I viewed the mods list it does not stipulate this (in QLD). Please link your reference or admit to posting mis-information. In Victoria you can only have 1 intake mod and in NSW iirc you must have a box for pod, being that he is in Victoria I would not suggest using QLD rules as a guideline as our laws are rather lax.

If your car is already registered, just take it to vicroads and hand in transfer form and pay the stamp duty.

Unregistered, I'd say leave it as is as the inspector only look for engine and chassis number, thats it.

    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
