Hey ,

Got my car from Japan today - Driving it home, realised that the rear suspension squeaks to buggery !! It's really annoying as it only happens when you are going really slowly with little to no engine noise. Its like the rear shocks go down like 1-2mm and it make this god awful noise.

The car has after market coils and shocks - don't know what brand yet as I haven't had time to pull the back wheels off. All four corners are damn stiff though.

Put it this way, you open the boot and push down on the rear and you can hear this noise squeak thu the chassis.

It sounds like the shocks need a bit of an oil - But I thought this was all internal ??

The car handles well and can take a fairly decent pothole without jarring too much.

Can anyone gimme some advice on what to look for or what to do with this problem ??

Many Thanks,

Ripped wheels off tonight -

The shocks are Tanabe? (never heard of them??) - Looks like the rubber boot that is meant to go over the main shaft of the shock has perished. Don't know if the shocks are any good or not - So I WD40'd the lot - The noise is better, but still there.

I might take it down to Pedders or another suspension shop = see what they reckon.

Recomendations for suspension shops in Sydney ???

Cheers/

yeah i was goin to say that but i didnt know how to explain it the springs sometimes squels where it sits in the shoe of the shock usually cause aftermarket stuff is metal on metal wheras factory have a little rubber boot on the ends of the springs id say a generous amount of electrical tape would do the same thing wrapped around the end of the spring crap job though pulling all the springs out for squeekes!!:D

tanabe usually supply things to nissan like radiators and hoses n ***** are they anything special like hieght adjust. or shocker adjustable if not i didnt know they made shocks!!! Just be carefull with places like pedders cause they try n tell you all this stuff that there "diagnostic machine told them" about you need this that and the other replacing so they can make some money off you

No, not adjustable or anything (Damn Hard though) - The shock part of it is Orange and I they are called Viper Street somethings - Looks like you can undo the top of the strut tower and remove the shock cartridge (As you can tell I have no idea what all this stuff is called) Anyway , it didn't look to difficult to get at so I might pull them apart, clean everything , make sure all the rubbers are OK, test the shocks. Dunno what to do if the shocks need replacing as there would be no Tanabe spares in Aust hey ? Maybe someone else make a shock that is the same ??
