Hi everyone,

Was just wondering if anyone knows the legalities with having neons/LED's in the inside/outside of your car? I got told years ago you could have them as long as they weren't within viewing sight. As in, they are near the floor, not on your dash and as long as the outside one's weren't on while you are driving. But I don't know whether this has all change. I will be adding a killswitch to them anyways, so I can turn them off whenever I like. I might even just hook them up to the door lights, so when I open the doors they're on.... dunno just throwing around ideas, any help would be greatly appreciated

they are illegal, just like gay marriages, and for the same reasons

You sir, are a complete idiot for this response, this isn't the wasteland. Keep your ignorance to yourself.

Now,

Neon's/LED's are illegal unless factory fitted ( The new Holden's, and euro's that come with driving lights), And many enthusiasts on this forum will flame you for the thought of putting these accessories onto your car adding the "RICER" tag to your Skyline, but at the end of the day, it's YOUR car no one else's so do what YOU want.

Red/Blue lights cannot be at the front/rear of the vehicle to stop confusion of emergency vehicles or brake lights, keep this in mind.

Why not add some Coloured Lights under the dash, and Foot wells, just to give it that nice touch for the Passengers.

Anyways good luck.

:D

god kills a kitten AND a puppy everytime you turn a neon on in a skyline.

although in the grand scheme of things you're only slightly more pretentious than wankers that run around with japanese learner driver stickers, so don't fret.

rear facing red lights are legal as long as they are turned on with park lights, as are foglights or driving lights in front. you can try and adapt this to neons if you want (I guess run a white-yellow one in front and red in the back) and try and pass it off as driving aids.

you can't have red or blue lights inside or outside the car while driving in a way that is visible from the outside so as not to cause confusion with emergency vehicles. this includes LED's, neons, CCFLs etc and any glow from footwell lights.

you can't have a purple light on your car unless you're a harbourmaster in certain parts.

yellow lights on the turning side are also legal as long as they are activated by turning signals.

that said, you'll find 99% of this forum and most performance forums will bag the snot out of you for putting em on your car.

Well see I was thinking just having them inside the car, I have nismo pedals that have a blue backlight on them... and a couple of 9cm blue led's that I was gonna hook up to the doors and have them just under the back seats and front, just for some sort of effect. Stuffed if I know really, just throwing some idea's on how to use them as their just lying around. I have a blue light in the interior light. Didn't realise everyone hated them so much, otherwise I wouldn't have embarressed the shit out of myself by posting it. Was just curious... :D

maybe instead of neons you should look into focussed LED lights and hook em up to your interior lights, that way you don't run a risk legally

thing is, whilst i do agree with Miso,

this is a performance firum as shan stated.

hence, people are more into the JDM Performance style instead of the sex-spec/ricer style.

so when you ask questions like that, people are going to kick up a fuss.

but its all in good humor :D

as long as it aint a v series your destroying, im cool.

I'm not sure if your a 100% correct on that. I was informed that you are allowed to put yellow lights down the side of your car and have them on i.e truck style. Like all the utes we see and that is legal.

I was also told that blue / red, front and back no go. Yellow down the sides of the car ok. Yellow and green on the front and back of the car ok.

But then again you look at all the trucks going around and look at the amount of blue lights they have on the front up the grills and everywhere and they dont seem to have a problem.

Nah, I was stating the f**k you symbol... whatever you do with your finger and your vagina go ahead, just dont bring me into it please.

I wouldn't be bringing you into anything... Not after where your fingers have been...

Does it look like a mad rave doof club up there with your hektik neons glowing away inside your moist joint?

    • Harness is for a s1 Rb25det, and it is engine and lower harness.  the old harness had broken off plugs and was in very rough condition/exposed wires and splices etc. it is not able to be put back on the car, I could visually inspect to see if they had rewired any pins on the ecu plug. The fuel pump definitly isn’t turning off it’s an external pump and very loud you can hear it. Will look at the other harness tonight, am also going to pull the fuel rail and watch the injectors spray, will update here with what I find. Pretty sure at this point it has to be something to do with injectors because car will fire up on starting fluid and cas is clicking the Injectors. Fuel pressure is steady 43psi
    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
    • I checked spark on all cylinders and they all visually have spark with the plug pulled and grounded, but plug 1 is the only one that fouled. This was a running swap that blew up and was rebuilt by a machine shop, put a new wiring specialties harness and did all gaskets, studs, and bolts while it was out.  compression is 135-150 across all cylinders. Aside from that from my understanding with the z32 ecu and maf the car should start regardless. The wiring for TPS and the dual 02 sensor/ dual knock sensor stuff shouldn’t actually stop the car from starting or even running well, (just slightly rich)  they just give fault codes. Car supposedly is supposed to start as long as you have z32 afm and ecu with the nistune base map and that’s info coming from a well known and trusted tuner who does a lot with SR/RB (Rsenthalpy). After more trouble shooting today where I’m at right now is that the cas is sending signal to the injectors they click while spinning the rotor, Fuel pressure is now set at 43psi, all cylinders have good compression and all of the plugs looked great (just wet with fuel) except for cylinder 1 which was very black (cylinder 1 has 150psi compression). all of the coils generate spark if pulled out and grounded out on the head. On the fuel pump car just pops into the exhaust. On starting fluid car will fire off. Hard to tell if all cylinders are firing off but definitley a couple. sounds like all of them but it’s only for 3-5 seconds hard to tell.
