had a look at the custom orange 200sx at Motor City today. Anyone know its history? Was it painted here etc?

It looks tough but they got 31grand on it, go-fast wise all it has is FMIC and exhaust.

I think they should fire their car detailer, most of the cars looked quite shabby!

I sold my car through Motor City.

It sounds very expensive for a 200sx , but then again what you all forget is the car would be on consignment so the owner would have set a price he wants for it.. and then Motor City being a business and like business is in it to make money. So they would prob be out to make 2k or so (rent, power, & wages dont come free)... plus all the time they spend trying to sell it for the owner plus factor in ppl will bargain the car down.

I gather you are talking about an S14 200sx , so if that is the case it would more than likely be a local delivery (they were sold here so can't see how u can import, and if you could it wouldn't have been many).

So that would mean that the custom job would have been done in Oz , and well from the other thread in the SA section we know how much this can cost.. and then add the exhaust (atleast 1.5k) and intercooler (prob 2k installed).

Suddenly it all adds $$ onto the car.

But yeah I would not pay 31k for one of those either, but I can see the car being worth high 20's without a prob.

I am pretty sure it was YLQQK (or something like that) plated before. (Plates now on a white 350Z) .... saw it at a few car shows and the drags one time. I have a video of it running at AIR somewhere ....

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
