Hey guys,

I've been a long time Skyline lover and now that its been almost a year since I got my Ps, and I know that I'm not going to thrash my car except for circuit days, I was thinking about buying an n/a skyline. However my question is, do you guys think I would be better off with an r32 gts or an r34 gt? I will most likely do a fair bit of interstate driving a few times a year, and go to track days in the car, so comfort power and handling are important to me.

And don't worry guys, I can honestly say without second thought that I am not a hoon. I am an enthusiast like the rest of you [i hope :)] and am not going to be one of them lead-footed kids trying to go as fast and kill as many people as possible.

Cheers guys.

r34 gt with a rb25 in it will be faster than the 32, more reliable than the 32 (the 32's are getting on a bit now), more comfortable than the 32. only downside is that it will be more expensive to buy than the 32.

agreed, r34 much nicer vehicle, r32 getting to old , too many problems likely to arise and not as refined as the 34..I have seen a few nice 34gt lowered with rims and a good stereo make a great daily..

However if you wanted mainly a track vehicle i would say get a 32 cause its lighter, revs harder and the money you save can be used for suspension, brake mods

But for safety sake get the 34, its got abs and airbags... >_<

*EDIT* whatever you do, dont get fooled into a gts4 they're shit....

And if you want 4 doors your honestly better off with a commodore

Agreed with above posts.

If you've got your heart on an R32 though, come along to the 21st Anniv (Click on my Sig below) and have a talk to some the guys there (if Oct isn't too far away). There may even be a couple up F/S. >_<

Coming from a guy with an NA R32 (with R33 RB25DE S2 engine), they seem pretty rugged and manouverable, more suited for tracks. As the strong points are weight, size, and wheel base. Even then, the R34 is equipped with better LSD and tech? (unsure) so lap times should be similar. Also the new engine has more torque.

Fuel wise I can get about 9-10L/100km with a bit of dose every now and then. So the refined RB25DE Neo should get a bit better.

Comfort wise i doubt it's as good as an R34, even the interior should be falling apart slowly by now. However i do like the seats as you can adjust the sides to hold you firmer. You should be able to find a clean R34 MUCH easier than an R32, let alone a non turbo one, furthermore a 2.5L.

Also with an R32 you will need either lots of time or money to fix whatever screws up as it is considered an old car.

All these points indicate an R34 is a better choice for you.

thanks guys,

It seems like 34s are the way to go, and to be honest 34s have always been my fav. Was thinking about 32s because they appeal to me as well somewhat, and because I saw some on carsales for about 6-7k which is how much I had. But now I've gotta start saving up from scratch since I had a very unexpected expense pop up today.

But i really appreciate the insight guys, so thanks a lot.

Oh and by the way, I'd love to come down for the cruise, especially since its for Westmead Children's, but I don't know since I'll feel out of place in my bomb :)

id keep saving and buy an r34gtt or an r33/34 gtr

seriously dont bother with na u will be bored after 10mins of driving it.

I've thought about that, but I don't know if I can wait that long lol.. I really want my own Skyline.

how do you dose in a NA car? do you yell "VU-TU-TU-TU-TU" out the window?

*mumbles* god i hate people who use the word "dose" for anything other than talking about medicine

So you can get a DOSE of my MEDICINE! LOLOL ok lame...

My ADR came back monday after the R34 cruise, so went for a look in my wifes black Corolla with a BIG pink lady silohette (Mack truck style) pink "Nuthin' 2 Serious" (name of her band) and pink Number plates... We all started with something (Camira in my case) and many of us still drive S#1tters every day so we can have our turbo Skyline.. So come for a look and get an NA for now, will be plenty quick enough for the road and not out of place at a track day either.

    • Yeah, the thread is only nearly 20 years old.
    • Been down in Tassie for 2 weeks (a cruise, not a race for once) but spent a little time on her when I got back. I worked out the injector settings in the PowerFC were not correct for nismo 555s, set those to 66% +10ms and added a little air at closed throttle, set the timing (approximately, because it has some weird non 15o cells around idle) and now she starts and idles properly. She purrs like a kitten (ignore the co2 alarm in the background, I did  ) 20250518_171052.mp4 Next step, off for run-in, tuning and alignment!
    • Went to a drift practice day at a local circuit (held on the reserve parking area behind the grandstand) for the first time in about 15 years. Some kei cars were drifting as well, a not so surprising Suzuki Carry truck, and two 1st gen Daihatsu Copens that were converted to rear wheel drive(!) using Daihatsu Boon X4 transfer case, prop shaft and rear diff, obviously omitting the front driveshafts. They looked really fun to slide. I heard that they cost "about half" as much as a Nissan Silvia etc to run.  On the track 'Tech M' a local BMW tuning garage had a customer track day. Mainly recent models but there was one E36 which looked ancient among all the current models. It was cool watching the drifting and then turning around and seeing random people thrashing their M3/4s  central-circuit-drift-practice-2025-05-18-long-yt.mp4
    • I prefer it with those wheels (sacrilege?) 😋 Here's a photo of a fully original one for reference. The price is $350K....
    • I would like to keep it around 15k but if I need more to make it reliable and not have to worry about the car breaking I can go more. It's my project car so I'm just trying g to figure out what needs to be in it i know basic things like turbo cams injectors I'm just unsure of the size and the specifics so I'm spending alot of time on Google and its mostly rb25 and rb26 not alot on neo
