Well definitely a lot of interest here.. amazing, people do read the QLD forums

I think its just a matter of planning a route, that a large number of people its not too out of the way for, its a reasonable time, and giving PLENTY OF NOTICE.. i think that is the main key. At least 2-3 weeks notice, not "oh I'm going down here tonight, anybody want to meet up".

Sundays is good for me usually. I'll come down to Coomera if its a once a fortnight thing, its not far.. and its fairly open area around there for mucking about later on. But I'm not going anywhere for a while because I'm a bit poor :D

The other option is to get some more hardcore cruisers who want to try the mountains as a smaller group some nights. Sometimes late night runs can be excellent, because you get the cooler conditions to make your turbo go zip, and less cop and traffic troubles... but I'm not sure I guess you want to watch out for kangaroos this part of the world! That was never a problem in VIC :)

Hey Strutto,

Kudos for organising a good meet, too bad we were temporarily interupted by a bogan in a bombadore who came within a metre of a petrol bowser going sideways, what a wanker!

Hey did you see that RX7 spitting flames?!?! When you came up and past me and we took off it ATE me! After you got off we slowed down a bit and saw the flames shooting out the back, it was pretty cool!

Cant wait till next week! We'll have to get some "Team //GC" stickers :D

Ska: Thanks! Yeah some nice flames from the rotor. I've seen bigger from mine on the dyno though  Betcha the RX7 is in the workshop tomorrow!

Bogans: "Hey man, is that a skyline?? Do you'se like em or sumfin? Watch me do a fully sik donut in my stock EA Falcon in a packed servo with video cameras everywhere" LOSERS...

MELV: Your car is GOD...

Everyone who showed up: Thanks for comin...

Everyone else: This was NOT Mad Mountain //GC... Just a little meet up at BP Coomera to discuss the impending Mad Mountain cruise... Pity we didn't discuss it though... DOH!

Majority rules so it's going to be on a Sunday starting at BP Coomera... Early morning so the Brissy boys can make it... There will be PLENTY of notice when it happens. We have to sus the route first.

Stay tuned for further breaking information...

Yeah, was great to meet some of you tonight and hope to see you all when we go on a sunday cruise up the mountains. sunday at the coomera bP sounds good if we're going towards Mt tamborine, if heading north, glass house mtn then we can split to a few groups.

coomera bp for the gC boys then meet the Brissy boys at office works c/park and cont north to meet the rest at asply maccus and take off from there. what u think?

i went to milton and caught up with bryan, then we went to aspley, got there via airpot and at 10:30 not a **** in there, so we all park in there,(about 12) cars and the securtiy with a dog came out and told us to park elsewhere.

I'm sorry I coulnt go down to you guys, but would be interested in the crusie on sunday, pm me please.

:( sounded like you all had a great time, my headlights came today so if alls well hopefully i can join the next one :)

whos planning on going to drag combat? im hoping ill be able to drive there, either way i am going

Zoix: I think i saw you yesterday, at gumdale/belmont post office ? we drove past in a grey skyline with big fmic, not sure if it was you. If it wasnt, then you have someone copying you !

    • Yeah, it's getting like that, my daughter is coming over on Thursday to help me remove the bonnet so I can install the Carbuilders underbonnet stuff,  I might get her to give me a hand and remove the hardtop, maybe, because on really hot days the detachable hardtop helps the aircon keep the interior cool, the heat just punches straight through to rag top I also don't have enough hair for the "wind in the hair" experience, so there is that....LOL
    • Could be falling edge/rising edge is set wrong. Are you getting sync errors?
    • On BMWs what I do because I'm more confident that I can't instantly crush the pinch welds and do thousands of USD in chassis damage is use a set of rubber jacking pads designed to protect the chassis/plastic adapter and raise a corner of the car, place the aforementioned 2x12 inch wooden planks under a tire, drop the car, then this normally gives me enough clearance to get to the front central jack point. If you don't need it to be a ramp it only needs to be 1-1.5 feet long. On my R33 I do not trust the pinch welds to tolerate any of this so I drive up on the ramps. Before then when I had to get a new floor jack that no longer cleared the front lip I removed it to get enough clearance to put the jack under it. Once you're on the ramps once you simply never let the car down to the ground. It lives on the ramps or on jack stands.
    • Nah. You need 2x taps for anything that you cannot pass the tap all the way through. And even then, there's a point in response to the above which I will come back to. The 2x taps are 1x tapered for starting, and 1x plug tap for working to the bottom of blind holes. That block's port is effectively a blind hole from the perspective of the tap. The tapered tap/tapered thread response. You don't ever leave a female hole tapered. They are supposed to be parallel, hence the wide section of a tapered tap being parallel, the existince of plug taps, etc. The male is tapered so that it will eventually get too fat for the female thread, and yes, there is some risk if the tapped length of the female hole doesn't offer enough threads, that it will not lock up very nicely. But you can always buzz off the extra length on the male thread, and the tape is very good at adding bulk to the joint.
    • Nice....looking forward to that update
