I have a Garmin GPS navigator. It warns me of school zones and fixed speed cameras, and advises me of the prevailing speed limit. It has some strange things going on, though.

For example:

It warns me about (fixed) speed cameras that don't exist.

It has several different modes of operation in regard to school zones: warning, warning + speed limit change, speed limit change with no warning.

It warns me about school zones that are not signposted as school zones, and sometimes doesn't warn me at all about school zones that are signposted.

It advises the incorrect speed limit of some roads. It advises incorrect speed limits on odd sections of the same road.

There is a section of the Western Ring Road (Melbourne) that the Garmin insists is 90k speed limit (it's definitely 100kph), and then warns me of a (non-existant) 100kph fixed camera - WTF!

Just wondering if this was someting peculiar to the Garmin units, or is it a problem with units that use Whereis maps.

Fixed speed cameras - they are not on the whereis maps from what I know the GPS manufacturers do custom versions of where they are located *or* you can download free versions

Speed limits, the data is not accurate, the government said it would get fixed over the next 2 years, so expect incorrect speed limits all over the place.

the speed limit comes down to what the maps were written as being. when i go down the coast mine says 1 stretch of road is 50kmh but it is actually 90. also the highway has been 90kmh for a few years now and it still says it's 100. i don't get warnings of school zones or speed limit changes on mine (some roads it shows the speed limit down the bottom and it will change when i hit a new speed zone, but no warning). i also get random warnings of "safety camera area". once got this warning in my driveway, LOL.

    • All my Polish car culture insight comes from watching Nightride. So I half expect this to get 1UZ swapped eventually?! Are you going to drive it in winter? I'm always curious how ATTESA would hold up in the snow. There isn't that much opportunity to try it in Australia.
    • My steering lock unit on my Infiniti G37 has failed. The car is a local 2012 Infiniti G37 (Q60 ) I need to replace the unit My local mechanic said i need to buy a complete steering wheel assembly. Does anybody no any mechanics in Gold Coast or Brisbane who can fix this issue or where i can buy just the Steering lock control unit. Thanks
    • thanks, will conduct myself accordingly. i unfortunately put about 150 miles on the car before reading this thread again, however no PS issues, and definitely no turbo issues. it spools normally and still feels fast to me, probably because my previous car was an N/A auto sedan...gonna go fix the PS vacuum line though lol. safe to say, got what i came to this thread for. thanks
    • Agreed, I've never seen a 260RS specific manual. As GTSBoy said it will mostly be stagea other than the engine loom https://www.hgeconsulting.com.au/stageaservicemanual.pdf
    • You'lll likely have to make do with R33 GTR for engine/tranny stuff, and Stagea for the body. I don't know that there's even been an actual diagram seen in the wild.
