Guys,

Apart from Ice Performance or Race Pace, where is the best place to get a pre-purchase inspection on a GTR? I know a few places have been mentioned here, but are there any good mechanics or panel beaters you would recommend....

Anyone from here think they can do the job?

Cheers.

CR34tion.

The guys accross the road do a lot of work on GTR's, they have actually just rebuilt a RB26DETT from an R-32.

the other people who I would suggest is Hyper-Tech Autosports in Vermont. They just serviced my car and they prepare a lot of Targa cars, and race cars, and have a very professional workshop. They are at www.hyper-tech.com.au

Tell them I sent you.

BASS OUT

Its pretty hard to get a proper inspection on a GTR though.. a friend had the same problem. Basically they either cbf, or don't want the hassle if they make a mistake in looking at it. They'll really only give you a basic "looks ok", even many of the performance shops even if they deal with GTR all day. I told him that, course he didn't believe me... he took it to a few shops and whatya know they said exactly the same "all we'd really recommend for sure is to give it a full workout and see what snaps". If it don't break "its good"

Bass Junky> Would i have to make an appointment with the dudes across from you and how much would they charge?

Hyper-Tech are very dodgy... i have heard many stories about them which i don't know if i should share..... I brought my previous car there for pre-purchase inspection.

I will never go there again.

Only go to Hypertech if you have lots of money you no longer need. they are a joke. I made the mistake of going there when I first got my car because I thought they were the best due to the Gibson relationship. What they are really good at is making things up so you fork out $$$ so they can afford their Targa cars.

I will also never go there again.

The car has been previously inspected by Race Pace when another purchaser was planning to buy it. They said it was a great car... apart from the usual little things, hence they don't wanna inspect again and they don't do inspections now cos of certain events.

Should i just take their word for it cos i can't seem to find anybody else...

ylwgtr2> if you wanna come for a cruise to bayswater, then i wouldn't mind your advice:P

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
