I've been told by just cars that the ca will go into there yard for assessment after it's realised from the police yard

how the f**k are they going to know whether my engine or trans is rooted?

Or can I get it towed to the workshop that knows the car and has worked on it before?

I'm a total noob at this process, any advice would be ace

uhuh, thats what i was saying before, it sucks from what i was saying before they wont know condition of all the driveline etc, they might pay you out for the damage but you might get it back and drive it for a day or two (if your lucky) before something goes bang. you Seats etc were they listed as extra's or just standard? if standard you wont be covered for them.

sorry mate but it really does suck

When my brothers ute got car jacked the insurance company got all oil tests done to make sure the engine was ok. Make sure it gets sent to a gearbox place where they can pull the gb out and have a look. Keep fighting with insurance until your happy.

Good luck

ahh, this is sounding all too familiar... *sigh*

....Sorry to hear Rod - glad the car is still in once piece tho

Quentin from Just Cars is the assessor, he is pretty chilled about getting cars repaired. I had mine towed directly from the impound yard to Morpowa, where it was inspected. They leak tested, compression tested and pressure tested the engine, sussed out all the ins and outs, and obviously repaired the broken bits. Best give Quentin a call, and ask for his advice, but I would highly suggest getting the car towed to a reputable workshop for a full once over before anything.

Also, Quentin was happy for me to supply quotes and parts and to assist with the the repair process, which sped things up a bit: ie: I went and dropped my rims off to get repaired, then off to get new tyres fitted, and returned them to Morpowa while the gearbox was being rebuilt, to save some time.

Hope to see the stag back on the road soon

Nigel.

ps: PM me if you need help with anything, I know exactly what you are going through.

Thanks Nigel,I might give you a buzz tomorrow for a chat

the car still hasn't been printed and looked at, so even tho the coppers have it I can't go see it,which is really frustrating

hopefully Wednesday?

From what I gather just cars have said once it's released it will be towed to their assessment yard for a once over?

I don't know what the f**k is going on..

Stagea is a total write off

went to their yard yesterday to write out a list of damage I could see

one of the 260rs skirts was snapped in half, interior is f**ken toast

think I'm sad,but at the same time an inspector found a roll of mediswabs that the junkies use to wipe needles with

be f**ked if I was ever going to put my baby boy in the back of that car again

f**ken scumbags

big ups to everyone that's been supportive, had offers from a few people on here for lifts around town, had an offer to borrow someones spare daily, shit like that

got a good little community here fellas, love your work

peace out

Yeah its actually good to hear its too f**ked for you to keep it, I doubt id wanna go near a car i owned if it got whored around as much as yours did. Hopefully everything goes sweet with the insurance company, which it seems like it probably will.

Glad to hear it is all over Rodney, and I am actually glad too it is a write-off. Who knows how long it would have taken to fix, and it would NEVER have been the same car again. My only hope is they found some blood in the car meaning the scumbags hurt themselves in the accident (and for DNA evidence).

Hope the insurance company are very kind to you and you get an excellent payout! You are lucky that the car market is so terrible at the moment - there are some really nice cars out there for VERY cheap prices, so happy shopping!

+1 f**ked needle!

Glad it’s all sorted out, hope the insurance company look after you and pick up something new n taste to start a new project

like cronic said bigger and better things.

:)

Think I might go smaller and better

can't go past 4wd turbo combo...if you see what I'm getting at

there was a old chap there yesterday who's sole job was to inspect cars that come In for needles and drugs

from his info,1 in 3 stolen cars will have needles in them

that's f**ked up,makes me feel sick

WELL GOODLUCK with it all RODNEY hope you can get the old girl sorted out,

may be the start of many a new thing for you both,

GOOD LUCK Cheer`s Chuckie.

Will wait to see what kind of cash they want for the wreck, considering the damage and the suspect rooted trans surely they can't ask top dollar for it

just want my wheels and straight pipes back for the new rig

Think I might go smaller and better

You don't have to accept the opinion of the insurance company after it determines the status of your car.

Remember it is just the opinion of an assessor who may be very familiar with a Holden or ford but not your model, If you disagree you can argue your case ,get your mechanic to write a report and add additional information which the insurance co. may not be aware of.

They will want to out lay minimum dollars. if your car is a write off you can also argue the value but it may be irrelevant depending on how you insured the car.

    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
    • No, code 21 is very straightforward. It can only be the things described in that diagnostic flow. In fact it has no way of knowing that the spark plug resistance is out of spec.
    • Hi, SteveL Thank you very much for your reply, you seem to be the only person on the net who has come up with a definitive answer for which I am grateful. The "Leak" was more by way of wet bubbles when the pedal was depressed hard by a buddy while trying to gey a decent pedal when bleeding the system having fitted the rebuilt BM50 back in the car, which now makes perfect sense. A bit of a shame having just rebuilt my BM50, I did not touch the proportioning valve side of things, the BM50 was leaking from the primary piston seal and fluid was running down the the Brake booster hence the need to rebuild, I had never noticed any fluid leaking from that hole previously it only started when I refitted it to the car. The brake lines in the photo are "Kunifer" which is a Copper/Nickel alloy brake pipe, but are only the ones I use to bench bleed Master cylinders, they are perfectly legal to use on vehicles here in the UK, however the lines on the car are PVF coated steel. Thanks again for clearing this up for me, a purchase of a new BMC appears to be on the cards, I have been looking at various options in case my BM50 was not repairable and have looked at the HFM BM57 which I understand is manufactured in Australia.
    • Well the install is officially done. Filled with fluid and bled it today, but didn't get a chance to take it on a test drive. I'll throw some final pics of the lines and whatnot but you can definitely install a DMAX rack in an R33 with pretty minor mods. I think the only other thing I had to do that isn't documented here is grind a bit of the larger banjo fitting to get it to clear since the banjos are grouped much tighter on the DMAX rack. Also the dust boots from a R33 do not fit either fyi, so if you end up doing this install for whatever reason you'll need to grab those too. One caveat with buying the S15 dust boots however is that the clamps are too small to fit on the R33 inner tie rod since they're much thicker so keep the old clamps around. The boots also twist a bit when adjusting toe but it's not a big deal. No issues or leaks so far, steering feels good and it looks like there's a bit more lock now than I had before. Getting an alignment on Saturday so I'll see how it feels then but seems like it'll be good to go
