Hi,

I'm wondering should I be looking for any particular model of fuel regulator, are there different specifications/sizes?

Intended modifcations: HKS 2530/2535 on 25DET, Bosch 910, PowerFC, Z32...

When browsing on the net for regulators, there doesnt seem to be any specs or recommended applications?

How much should I pay? They are around $250-400 on the net.

you want the smaller sard fuel regulator with an 8mm nipple. that'd be fine for your application. sard have a larger regulator, but not needed for your level of mods.

no model number sorry, can't read katakana or kanji, but my hyperrev says 14000yen. i bought mine whilst in japan for 9100yen and i believe greenline can supply for about 13000yen.

Just wondering, but why do you want a regulator? The stock one would defintely be up to the job.

I'm looking to go as far as I can without getting new injectors.

From what I've read, 190-220?rwkw is about the limit of the stock 33 injectors, however with a rising rate fuel reg I'm hoping to get 220-240rwkw which is my power goal.

Whether or not I'll get there is debatable, but if I can milk that extra bit out of the injectors with a reg then I'll try.

Current 'wisdom' (if you call it that) says that 240/250 on 370cc injectors is ok.

I personally have never seen it and I'm a bit dubious about it but it seems that low 200kW range motors should be ok with a big pump + reg.

I believe you should be able to get away with the stock injectors unless your trying to milk your engine for what its worth.

Maybe try the Malpassi, set the base pressure a bit higher to say, 50psi. Altho I cant confirm it, also its rising rate ratio is 1.7:1, so for every pound of boost, it raises the fuel pressure by 1.7psi. You just gotta make sure you get the PFC retuned, and all should be good!

Basically, i got a r32 with stock pump about to die, so bought a gtr pump, do i now need to change the regulator? I was under the impression that i needed to, but others are tellin me its not needed.

Would like to know what all you guys think???

This should be in a FAQ.

Big pump for stock injectors and stock ecu does not need a regulator.

Except if you want to wind up an adjustable regulator for a bit more flow.

Big pump for 550cc+ injectors and programmable ecu does not need a regulator as you should have enough flow already.

My experience is similar to what Tony has been saying (in fact he may be talking about me in his post :))

I put a Bosch 044 pump into my R33 and re-tuned the S-AFC. But before I did (there was a gap of a few weeks) I didn't really notice it running any richer. It probably did run a bit richer, but I didn't seem to lose power or economy.

I was hoping to break 200rwkw with the tune because of the bigger pump, which I did (215), but it still started to run out of fuel at redline. Thus I had reached the maximum flow of the injectors. The options from there are to replace the regulator or the injectors. I went with the latter option, but I've still yet to put them in the car. Because I am now also maxing out the AFM, so I am saving up to get a Z32 AFM.

In my case, I have the same Bosch 044 as Jim.

I've added an Apex regulator (it was cheap and I've been told it's identical to the Nismo model which is JECS Unisia anyway).

I'm about to add 550cc drop ins.

I don't need the regulator as I don't think I'll have any requirement to wind up the pressure on the 550cc but I did have a requirement to do it on the stock 370cc.

im currently running a bigger in tank bosch pump, with malpassi adj. reg., and stock injectors...(microtech LTX-12 computer)...putting out 224kW @ wheels @ 18psi.......on FULL boost this is just maxing out the injectors on 100% duty cycle. It made 238kW on dyno but was leaning out a bit so i'd rather be safe an wound it back a bit for now.

next on list....Injectors....just wish they wern't so damn expensive for RB25's

anyway, hope this is of some help. I believe the reg sits on round 40pound pressure @ idle

Hey guys, i have an 040 in my r33 Racecar, i was running one of these in my road car with no drammas, but i am getting a miss from 4500 rmp on, when the throttle is wide open... i have replace the TPS, new splitfires and still i have this problem, i am running std ECU & STD boost while i have this problem, the car is fitted with a front mount and other than that & a 4" exhaust from the turbo, it is dead stock, (splitfire & irrideon plugs). anyway my question is should i be running a fuel pressure reg? is it possible to be supplying too much pressure? i don't tyhink so, but i am buying some new s15 480cc injectors this week, maybe the old injectors are the problem... i don't know as the car only just arrived from japan a few weeks ago

    • Hi, SteveL Thank you very much for your reply, you seem to be the only person on the net who has come up with a definitive answer for which I am grateful. The "Leak" was more by way of wet bubbles when the pedal was depressed hard by a buddy while trying to gey a decent pedal when bleeding the system having fitted the rebuilt BM50 back in the car, which now makes perfect sense. A bit of a shame having just rebuilt my BM50, I did not touch the proportioning valve side of things, the BM50 was leaking from the primary piston seal and fluid was running down the the Brake booster hence the need to rebuild, I had never noticed any fluid leaking from that hole previously it only started when I refitted it to the car. The brake lines in the photo are "Kunifer" which is a Copper/Nickel alloy brake pipe, but are only the ones I use to bench bleed Master cylinders, they are perfectly legal to use on vehicles here in the UK, however the lines on the car are PVF coated steel. Thanks again for clearing this up for me, a purchase of a new BMC appears to be on the cards, I have been looking at various options in case my BM50 was not repairable and have looked at the HFM BM57 which I understand is manufactured in Australia.  
    • Well the install is officially done. Filled with fluid and bled it today, but didn't get a chance to take it on a test drive. I'll throw some final pics of the lines and whatnot but you can definitely install a DMAX rack in an R33 with pretty minor mods. I think the only other thing I had to do that isn't documented here is grind a bit of the larger banjo fitting to get it to clear since the banjos are grouped much tighter on the DMAX rack. Also the dust boots from a R33 do not fit either fyi, so if you end up doing this install for whatever reason you'll need to grab those too. One caveat with buying the S15 dust boots however is that the clamps are too small to fit on the R33 inner tie rod since they're much thicker so keep the old clamps around. The boots also twist a bit when adjusting toe but it's not a big deal. No issues or leaks so far, steering feels good and it looks like there's a bit more lock now than I had before. Getting an alignment on Saturday so I'll see how it feels then but seems like it'll be good to go       
    • I don't get in here much anymore but I can help you with this.   The hole is a vent (air relief) for the brake proportioning valve, which is built into the master cylinder.    The bad news is that if brake fluid is leaking from that hole then it's getting past the proportioning valve seals.   The really bad news is that no spare parts are available for the proportioning valve either from Nissan or after market.     It's a bit of a PITA getting the proportioning valve out of the master cylinder body anyway but, fortunately, leaks from that area are rare in my experience. BTW, if those are copper (as such) brake lines you should get rid of them.    Bundy (steel) tube is a far better choice (and legal  in Australia - if that's where you are).
