Ok, heres the deal.

My gtr is stalling on idle, spluttering etc only when warmed up.

Thought it to be a ECU issue with the power fc(Which when installed happens alot more frequent and worse) so i got the old ecu installed worked fine for a week.

Issue still exsists.

I have checked the Vac Lines and piping for leaks as far as i know there are no leaks.

I have cleaned the AFS with contact spray.

I have yet to check the Idle control unit.

I run a stock bov.

The car use to idle on 1200rpm however after issue only appeared after idle down to 9000/1000rpm from Godzilla after they fixed my timing to 20.

I have taken my car to Mercury and they did say it was either the Power fc or the wiring.

I got my stereo installed by WOW @ Underwood. Dodgy install dodgy products drivers side speaker blew and they tried to say i installed it myself (I Didnt)... anyways back on track when the car stalls it does not seem like it looses power the engine just dies could the wiring be stalling cutting ignition to the engine?

I have been told that it is a common fault with skylines that it does not return to idle very well. or that the altnerator does not charge correctly.

Can anyone help me?

Sounds like an airflow meter to me, try swapping them one at a time for one you know works, While yours are now clean the fault could be on the solder inside it for example or like mine the wiring in the pug has come loose from the pins

Thanks mate, Yeah im taking it to a Auto Sparky tomorrow to get him to have a look at it.

Cheers for the tip.

Wiring is fine, Suspecting a DEAD AFS. or its not earthing right, so tried some stuff and if that doesnt work new AFS will be coming.

Hey mate go to the ETC on your PFC hand controller and select sw/sensor - you will see o2.1 and o2.2 listed check what these are reading. They will be different but if one is way different to teh other tehn you can confirman AFM prblem.

lol. thats all i have to say to that claim.

So are you saying that after WOW installed your sound system, the car THEN went funky?

Can you give some advice as to how the events unfolded in chronological order?

I remember I had to adjust my idle thingy on the rb26 and all i can say is DONT take it off because it is a broad minded person to get back in. If you adjust it with a screwdriver, it may work for you, though I don't know if that is just a bandaid solution - still masking the original problem.

Jonnyo's postulation seems quite logical, if you dont have access to a multimeter - id give that a go first, since it is a non-invasive procedure.

Otherwise, good luck.

When I first got my R33 a few years ago it used to hunt like mad and sometimes stall when pulling up to lights and stuff. I searched on here for similar problems and a few people managed to fix it after cleaning the idle air control valve. What happens is the spring inside gets all full of shit and doesnt open and close properly causing the car to hunt at idle. I took mine off and cleaned it all with carby cleaner and then adjusted the idle and that fixed the problem. Easy game.

Here is the link to the guide I followed.

AAC Valve Cleaning Guide

This is done on an RB25 but there isn't too much difference between the two engines anyway.

Thanks, I just adjusted the idle and it hasnt not hunted since ;)

if its still playing up re-install stock ecu and hook up a diagnostics tool to it, ask mercury or what ever shop u use, one should have one and it should be able to pull out a fault code, letting you know exactly the fault, my guess will be afm's most likely. very common problem, they just get old solder inside them and can be repaired, but most people exchange them or buy new ones at great expense. butr could be another issue with iac aswell? try them all, just go to the diy section and start searching for HOW TO: threads. its a process of elimination with skylines.especially when it comes to sensor problems, some or many may lead to the same out come, its just trying to find the correct one which is a bitch.

    • Yeah I've had too many issues with knock off's on the BMW's. I don't want to do a job twice or more because the parts are shit.
    • I read this and thought "ah! I will do this scissor jack on the tow point thing!" I just use my floor/low profile/costco jack and lift the car up by the tow hook itself, then slide jack stands under. Never thought about using scissor into floor jack combo :p
    • Well, my new WMI system took much longer to finalize. I actually missed my dyno appointment last Friday and lost my 150$ deposit. I'll be going back in the next week or two.  To sum it up. I only kept the AEM tank from my old setup. I replaced the AEM pump with a higher flow/pressure ProMeth 30GPH pump. I also swapped over to a 6AN low pressure feed line to the pump from the tank. There's also a pressure switch you cannot see on the pump high pressure line.    This is feeding 6x 200CC direct port nozzles and 1x 500CC Pre Throttle body nozzle. All fittings are Swagelok, because well why not. I also have a 300PSI pressure sensor up front.    I now have my Haltech ECU controlling everything. I start my pump with a basic relay at 5PSI and deadhead it. I then PWM a 3000CC methanol Injector to control flow starting around 10psi. The pressure switch in the trunk, along with my tank level are safeties before I ever get to 10PSI, and then I use my pressure sensor upfront as a secondary safety to cut the WMI and corrections in case the injector blocks or a line ruptures.  Wish me luck on the dyno!
    • So, I'm back with bad news. There's no jack long enough on this planet that will reach the front subframe. If by some chance there is, it would weigh 200lb's.  I purchased a long reach jack... The damn thing weighted 120lb's and was massive. Didn't even come close, was still short at least a foot. It was a pain, but I brought it back. Next I decided HA! No problem, I'll get an Extra long reach jack. Well, I couldn't lift the box... It must have weighed 160LB's and luckily there was an open box in store. I took measurement and was still nowhere close.  Sadly I've lost hope and have accepted defeat.
    • Thanks for that tip, niZmO_Man. I think the battery is OK. It's quite a new one, but I'll check. Last time I needed a new battery, everything electronic was fine, except that there wasn't enough current to turn over the starter. I decided to order one of the partial AV system translation CDs from Car Audio Workshop in NZ. That might have some effect, or help me diagnose the date problem. 🤞
