This guy was most likely not a cop.

Making a speeding fine stick these days will take more than the say so (verbal) of a cop. The vehicle would have to have a calibrated speedo.

as for the "to be f$%ked" business. Not acceptable conduct....sounds fake

I've been pulled over by an off duty cop...they are never off duty.

interested i know i few riders who have been done by cops and the cops were allowed to sight the speed upto 20km/hr over

Well ages back when my mum still had her VN commodore, one day we got a cop knocking on the door & proceed to hand my mother a fine for dangerous driving...

Apparently a off duty cop was riding on his push bike & he claimed that my mother was driving recklessly & cut him off & he had to take evasive manuavours... (you know the usual exaggerated BS) this off duty was apparently a senior officer & he filed a claim, so this junior ranked cop is chasing up with it.

The fine was $100ish & had a point or two... the points my mother couldn't care less, but the $100ish dollars... that was a BIG DEAL.

You just don't mess with a cheap-ass Asian Woman's money...

She outright refused to accept the fine right in the junior cop's face (which shoked him I think...) & agreed to go to court with it, she was all prepared & got a English to Chinese translator on court day but when they got there they found that the off-duty cop who made the original claim had withdraw his claim.

When she got back she said she forgot to counter-sue this cop for wasting her time & should demand for compensation for the time she had to take off work (& hece lost on more $$$) to go to court.

I was once driving down a 50km/h residential street, shifting in to 5th at 50km/h (yes, i dont speed as there are many children always playing around)

As I was driving I notice a man unloading shopping from his boot on the side of the road, only for him to twirl a shopping bag at me and yell at me to slow down. Knowing I was doing nothing wrong I slam on the brakes and reverse up to the guy, giving him a mouthful "Have you got a radar on me mate? I was doing F*CKING 50 dickhead" - he then whipped out a cop badge and said "i said slow down!! i'll see you in court" (thinking his cop badge will make me change my tune) after telling him politely to "go f**k himself" for being a righteous dick i drove off....

never heard anything from him again. the end.

about 20 years ago my brother and i (he was driving) overtook a cop that was off duty out in the back streets of wanneroo on his personal motorbike, he followed us to our house but thankfully only gave him a warning .he did say if he ever saw him doing that speed again he would arrest him on the spot. admittingly he was doing 150 in a 80

hooning wasnt even herd of back then it was just called speeding

Was in NSW, and was on a 2 lane road overtaking a car as the speed was going to drop to 50 from a 70 zone. As i go to accelerate to take over maybe hitting 80 as the 50 zone approached the car i was overtaking was keeping up. , as a car was turning right further i gunned it to avoid a collision with the turning car. (yes i could have slowed down but i was in the middle of overtaking and the prick who i was overtaking was keeping up and sitting in my blind spot), As i get in front and in the left lane the car i just overtook swings around to the right lane after the turning car and pulls and makes gestures with his hand to slow down. Anyways i pull up to lights i roll my window down and see the guy was an off duty cop ;) , i could tell by the police shirt her was wearing. He goes you know thats a 50 zone and you atleast hit 100.... SLOW DOWN!!!, I reply why the f*k did you speed up when i was overtaking, i wouldnt need to speed up if you knew how to drive. Knowing i had just admitted to speeding and was being a smart ass, i turned off and took the back streets home. :D Happened over 6 months ago didnt hear from the cop.

some points:

1. an off duty cop can only book you for speeding ONLY if they have their ticket book with them. Having worked with cops, i can say that only a few traffic cops tend to carry their ticket books on them whilst off duty.

2. The post above is correct: don't stop unless you see blue flashing lights OR they give you a clear view of their badge.

3. If you get a summons for a traffic charge and you were not pulled over and questioned at the time of the alleged offence (leaving aside multanovas etc), give serious consideration to challenging the charge.

4. If an off duty cop does pull you over, make a good note of how fast they had to go to catch you!

5. don't be a smart arse. you are far more likely to talk yourself into getting a ticket you otherwise probably would've just a stern talking to for.

    • After my last update, I went ahead with cleaning and restoring the entire fuel system. This included removing the tank and cleaning it with the Beyond Balistics solution, power washing it multiple times, drying it thoroughly, rinsing with IPA, drying again with heat gun and compressed air. Also, cleaning out the lines, fuel rail, and replacing the fuel pump with an OEM-style one. During the cleaning process, I replaced several hoses - including the breather hose on the fuel tank, which turned out to be the cause of the earlier fuel leak. This is what the old fuel filter looked like: Fuel tank before cleaning: Dirty Fuel Tank.mp4   Fuel tank after cleaning (some staining remains): Clean Fuel Tank.mp4 Both the OEM 270cc and new DeatschWerks 550cc injectors were cleaned professionally by a shop. Before reassembling everything, I tested the fuel flow by running the pump output into a container at the fuel filter location - flow looked good. I then fitted the new fuel filter and reassembled the rest of the system. Fuel Flow Test.mp4 Test 1 - 550cc injectors Ran the new fuel pump with its supplied diagonal strainer (different from OEM’s flat strainer) and my 550cc injectors using the same resized-injector map I had successfully used before. At first, it idled roughly and stalled when I applied throttle. Checked the spark plugs and found that they were fouled with carbon (likely from the earlier overly rich running when the injectors were clogged). After cleaning the plugs, the car started fine. However, it would only idle for 30–60 seconds before stalling, and while driving it would feel like a “fuel cut” after a few seconds - though it wouldn’t fully stall. Test 2 – Strainer swap Suspecting the diagonal strainer might not be reaching the tank bottom, I swapped it for the original flat strainer and filled the tank with ~45L of fuel. The issue persisted exactly the same. Test 3 – OEM injectors To eliminate tuning variables, I reinstalled the OEM 270cc injectors and reverted to the original map. Cleaned the spark plugs again just in-case. The stalling and “fuel cut” still remained.   At this stage, I suspect an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, caused during the cleaning process. This has led me to look into getting Frenchy’s fuel hanger and replacing the unit entirely. TL;DR: Cleaned and restored the fuel system (tank, lines, rail, pump). Tested 550cc injectors with the same resized-injector map as before, but the car stalls at idle and experiences what feels like “fuel cut” after a few seconds of driving. Swapped back to OEM injectors with original map to rule out tuning, but the issue persists. Now suspecting an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, possibly cause by the cleaning process.
    • For race cars, this is one part where I find having the roll cage bar having gone through a hole in the floor better than the build it up on a ledge inside... The Merc I help on, the main hoop ends are marked on the car, and the jack is marked... Jack goes under a few inches and lifts one whole side of the car up... Removes that fight for long slim jacks for race car duties!   My biggest issue for the daily drivers I work on, is my jacks don't go high enough. The jacks start out on a few blocks, jack it up, then start a second jack under it on more blocks, and then I can get an axle stand under it. My axle stands are presently in use, and are nearly fully extended. The car is sitting with barely more than a cm of clearance to get the wheel off the studs! Sarah's Kluger is the same, as it has an ungodly amount of droop available in the suspension and a distinct lack of good jacking points!
    • Happy? Yep, my to do list is getting shorter and shorter. Either this light approaching is the end of the tunnel, or I'm about to be hit by a train... Ha ha ha   Also, Duncan isn't that far out of town that you need to make a multi day drive out of it. 😛
