Hey guys,

Just a quick question regarding finding vacuum leaks. I've done a bit of research and have found that for vacuum leaks that don't make an obvious sound the best way is to use a spray pack to find the correct spot which is found when the gas enters the intake and changes or smoothens the rough idle speed. My question is what do I use? Alot of people say use starter fluid/carb cleaner/propane , which of these is best and will obviously steady the idle speed?

Reason I'm asking is that my car currently is suspected to have a leak somewhere as it is pooring alot of black smoke and idles anywhere between 0-1.5g and therefore seems to be burning too much fuel and before I take it to my tuner to get fixed and a new tune done id like a crack at finding it myself so I can actually drive it there.

Cheers

Throttle body cleaner is good and it shouldn't stuff the O2 sensors.

Some people also use propane if you have a propane torch lying around, this should increase the idle speed if you reckon reducing the idle will be difficult to spot. Just be bloody careful where you're spraying it around!
