markr34gtr
i have twin hks 2530 turbos on a gtr with gold looking actuators.... the problemb we are having is boost spikes and holding steady boost.. it can hold about 16psi but no more as the boost jumps all over the place.... but sometimes even it spikes if i leave the boost at one setting.. could my old actuators be getting sad...... if i upgrade to the hks silver 1.0bar actuators can they hold higher boost.. i am running a new blitz id 3 controller in manual mode set to 52 boost ratio and 20 gain.. (16psi).i also mounted the blitz soleniod under the pod filters so the hoses are nice and short for better response.. cheers... Sydneykid
Hi Mark we always run the wastegate spring rate as close to the boost level as we can. This means the boost controller, whatever type, only has to regulate a small amount. Plus the higher spring rate eliminates any chance of premature wastegate opening. I am not familiar with the Blitz boost controller, so I can't help there. Merli
Mark, That's a great boost controller you have there, one of the best on the market. Gain doesn't seem to be too high, but have you tried setting it on zero and seeing if that corrects the boost spike? When setting up a boost controller, you should always put gain to zero, and set the solenoid duty until you reach the desired boost level being held at peak, and then slowly turn up the gain to bring up the response at much as possible without spiking (too much)... As SK said, the best method of boost control is buy a wastegate actuator with the correct spring rate to open at your desired boost level, but that eliminates the ability to turn the boost down for wet weather/valet parkers/friends/etc... Good luck! Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/34492-hks-actuators-on-2530s/#findComment-690610 Share on other sites
markr34gtr
thanks. the actuator rods are adjustable. i might give the spring a bit more preload... this might help.. meshmesh
i thought the actuator had the setting marked on the unit itself, but I'm buggered if I could find it, just a bunch of serials? anyone know.
