Hey guys, i have a rwd wrx, havent touched it in about 8 months (been overseas), car is now serviced, and have new ecu (EMS Stinger) and Front Mount etc.

Made 162.3rwkw on 7psi so very happy with that (my boost controller died so couldnt run any higher...

now onto the goods, right after it got of the dyno, went for a launch and crack, there goes the rear cv..expected as ive done so many diffs and drivshafts, dont want anymore headaches so me and my mech pulled of the rear end - im wanting to fit a skyline rear end bu dunno which is the best option?

R32, R33, R34? GTR? Gt-t? has anyone on here done this before? i heard the JUN sti had that conversion but i cant find details, and we ran into a problem already, both rear ends are the right track (163") compared to a r32 gtr, but the fuel tak wont fit so might have to go for a fuel cell icon_sad.gif

but thats ok weigth distribution got better icon_smile.gif also lastly what suspension? i have cusco on the front, and heard that r32 and s13/s14 have one kind (short ) v r33, r34 tall? i dont know? jus hoping someone has done it before!

How much 'rear end' are you wanting to change? The WRX runs mcpherson strut suspension in the rear and s14/skylines all run double wishbone/four bar link suspension in the rear. These are really not interchangeable (do a google search on each one) The nissan pulsar GTiR actually runs something very similar to the WRX in the rear end, but i imagine STi gear would be a lot simpler to fit, not sure of the strength of the GTiR gear. (dare I say it's bound to be stronger than standard wrx gear?)

If it's just CV's and driveshafts you want to beef up then you could ask a driveshaft fabrication place to do some custom items for you, much easier to fit back into place. I did this with my custom AWD Bluebird (which ran a very similar rear end to yours) and they ended up using Lancer Evo driveshafts and custom cups/cages, and were very strong. (And 400 bucks. And direct replacement fit.)

Don't know about the diff, but you might also look into seeing if an evo diff could be fitted also, I understand Evo drivelines are pretty tough, and I only imagine that it would be easier than fitting skyline gear as it has a much more similar suspension platform.

You might still be able to fit parts of the skyline platform to your rex, might not be the easiest option though. Hope this is helpful.

There was a guy in NZ running a rwd wrx and he fitted a s14/15 diff and axles and machined the wrx hubs a little to accept the nissan cv joint. no problems after that

I dont know how hard it was to fit the diff, but he was a bit of a butcher from memory so it cant have been that hard :P

    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
    • Legend. I ended up finding the facebook account of the owner of the first car i sent but sadly he deactivated the account. I think you’re right in saying it’s some sort of well done custom job. Really appreciate your help anyways.
