Hi guys.....had a great week, till this happened on the way home.... Got the furious-horns the rest of the way!

As per title, right side flashes at the correct rate....left fast flashes with no external globe action.

Though I know all globes are fine as they illuminate when alarm goes off.....although they are no longer in sync with each other!...lol..(left to right).....which leads me to think it's more a circuit issue.

Is it a modularised circuit that I, or heaven forbid, Nissan can replace....any ideas?

I don't believe there is a 'flasher-can' as such in these vehicles, and that all 'flashes' are driven by some sort os oscillator circuit..cool.(?)

And that is the part that worries me....how the hell will I fix this thing...lol.

Guys, if you've had this experience before, please do word me up, we don't need this 5hit.

If I can answer anything that could help you to help me....fire away!

Cheers!

indicators are a function of the BCM and the stalk is a function of the cluster and BCM. has anything else quit?

Hi Chris,

mate, from what I can tell it's just the L/H indicators.

If it was the BCM (a module under the dash?), what do you think I'd be up for?

Thanx for response Chris.

thing being it is all interlinked. so whilst it the fault may appear in one spot it will probably lie in another.

as an example:

had a car in here a few days back - no indicators - no dash lighting , cluster worked, engine light on,

AC lost memory. cause - missing fuse in the engine bay.

need to find someone down there that knows late model nissan. they are all similar in design despite the fact that yours is a 'grey' car.

Yep, I hear ya!...cwaaaaazzzzy stuff.

..Was always dreading this day, where something stupid would keep the V off the road. (legally anyway).

Car is going to FTG Nissan Monday, they told me they'll be plugging in some diagnostics to check things out.

I'm hoping it's just something simple..it really should be you'd think.(?)

I reckon it could possibly be the alarm install from a couple of years back(???)...was never happy with that....I don't know...we'll see.

Cheer mate.

Having an aftermarket front LEDs as indicators can make the car think thats is a busted glob and it will tell you it's busted by flashing fast on that side.

So it might pay to double check

nope....no LED indicators on my car Paul....(??????????????????????)

Unless someone sneakely snuck some in there?

Cheers.

Hey Chris....seems I was right mate!

The aftermarket alarm was at fault, in focus, the installation thereof.

There are 2 small power diodes (probably of the IN4004 variety) that seclude part of the indicator circuit from the alarm indicator circuit. One had blown, and when the Nissan tech bridged this diode the left hand indicators started working again.

Now there could be long term issues if I continue to run the system in bypassed mode (or maybe there will be no issues), but I will be going back to TOWER AUDIO for the 3rd time with issues on their installation.

The dissing has to go to Tower Audio, as it's the 3rd time in 2 years that stupid things have rendered my car useless, due to their Alarm/install.....I'm farking over it....what next? I expect components to fail, but if you guys could see how crappy the aftermarket wiring around the BCM area is, you'd understand.

Now the KUDOS to Ferntree Gully Nissan......farking heroes in my book....$50 for half hour labour, and honesty....God love 'em!

Cheers!

out of curiosity - who are you dealing with at tower?

Hi Chris....over 6 odd years, all of them?

I'm pretty pissed off with them too mate....I have spent > a couple of thousand dollars with them, and something has always stuffed up, looking back on the work they've done to my cars.

I thought they were the best....ahhh, fark 'em.

so you have spoken to john at moorabbin at some point? he's been doing a few cars for me as of late.

the original owners sold the tower name and opened another shop elsehwhere I'm told.

looks like I should still do a run or two a year down there...

Chris, I just got the V35 back from Ferntree Gully Nissan this arvo, and as I'm working from home at the moment, and not my normal place in Moorabbin, haven't had the chance to go to Tower @ Kilpa Road, (Which I will be doing when back in Moorabbin).

Yes, there is another Tower Audio, just around the corner, more A/V, gizmo type stuff, nice shop, and nice people there.

Wish you could see my TowerAudio wiring job Chris, it's bullshit.

Think I might just solder in a new diode myself, I'd do a better job.

Cheers buddy.

    • Ahhh, I need the whole head unit. I definitely needed to roll back through and review your setup, ha ha! Neat setup they have going on. I just need a full double din head unit. But I want good and responsive. I might have to review what the likes of pioneer have out these days.
    • Ok so after much research and talking with knowledgeable people I've got my turbo conversion done and it's all running great other than 1 small issue.  Car has remained auto with the na auto and tcm, I've used a stagea ecu with. NIstune board and everything is great other than my gear selection on the dash. It illuminates park, reverse, neutral, 3rd and 2nd. But nothing drive or what gear your in when you pop it into tiptronic.  I'm sure there is may e 1 wire in the ecu plug I need to move to rectify this. Dose anyone here have any ideas?   Cheers guys
    • Sorry I haven't been following all the detail, so you may have tried this. Does it idle with the tiniest bit of throttle you can add? You've mentioned the IACV, does it have an AAC valve and have you adjusted it at all (ie, screw the idle adjust screw all the way in, then back it out a couple of turns until idle is stable)?
    • My bad, I unplugged the one underlined in red instead of yellow before. With the car started, after unplugging the IACV (the one underlined in yellow), it idled at around 400/500 for 3 seconds before stalling. Attempting to start the car without the IACV will not start the car.   It does stutter and sputter for around 5 seconds before dying. However, immediately after starting it, you can already hear some slight sputters from the exhaust.   It won't start with the AFM unplugged. If it is when the car has already started, it stalls in a few seconds.   Yesterday, I did take some logs using Nistune of 3 scenarios. Car idling till it stalls Car idling and unplugging the IACV Car idling and removing the AFM I also have some previous logs of when the Car is idling till it stalls and when driving and it cuts. I am not really knowledgeable enough to understand what to look for. After every test, car idles rougher and rougher, until I have to stop. It will be fine the day after.
    • There is no difference between a 17x8 and an 18x8. The total diameter of the tyre needs to remain +/- the same (so you don't mess up the gearing, speedo reading, and clearance when turning front wheels..... so you just need to use a lower profile tyre on th 18 than you do on the 17. /rocket surgery.
