Hi

Have a q about hooking up 2 cameras - one front, one rear and being able to switch between different settings.

The setting I want are these

1 - Reverse camera on only (when reverse engaged)

2 - Forward camera on only (all times)

3 - Forward camera on unless reverse engaged (then reverse camera on)

The monitor has 2 x video input - Input 1 (front) switches to input 2 (reverse) when it is activated

I have them installed into a 2000 Stagea (Auto)

Any ideas on wiring this up?

Cheers

assuming the inputs you mentioned are all unused, plug the front cam into the input 1, the rear cam into input 2,

power for the front cam should be Acc/IGN and the rear cam to the reverse lights

I'm also asuming the monitor switches acording to available video signals and in NOT switched electronicaly (ie by wires)

cheers Bundy

You most probably dont want to hook the camera through the front. You can have the front camera on all the time all you need is a 12 relay.

Wire it up so that the core of the video lead goes to the relay on the common © to your screen.

Then the core of each front and rear camera go on the NC and NO contact. Normally Closed for the front. Then join up the sheaths and solder and insulate.

Wire a 12v+ from the reverse light to the coil of the rely and the otherside of coil goes to earth.

So wired up this way the relay will just be sitting there putting front video through the contact.

When you engage reverse it will energise the coil and swap the contact over to the reverse. And back again after going out of reverse.

If you have A switch wire on your unit for the reverse camera it will swap to that chanel when 12v+ is applied.

If its like my set up I just turn on av2 when I want to park and it automatically switches the screen when in reverse.

    • Plan on the day will be to park trackside. Depending on space availability we will try put a small shade tent and a few of the cars on top of the hill inside turn 3, this is an easy to get to parking area with views of Turn 2, Turn 3, Turn 4 and Turn 5 and limited other pieces of the view around the track. IMPORTANT NOTE! One consideration from previous years is from memory the trackside parking sells out before the admission tickets, for that reason I encourage anyone planning on coming to buy tickets for parking now via the official website; https://www.worldtimeattack.com/ The type of parking you are looking for is 2 Day Park & View (Access Around Venue) Vehicle Pass Only Please note this does not include admission to the event itself, remember to grab that also, and kids under 12 get in for free!

    • Not in any way aroused by any of those, except maybe the big AMGs. And that would break my never a Euro, ever, rule.
