OK so i got a new tacho for xmas and i got excited and wanted to put it in straight away ...

i desided to disconnect the wire plugs that go in the light switch etc on the dash to connect the wire for the light on the tacho.

I then found out that i had no solder so i didnt touch any wires and put it all back together

Now my engine wont start ... the starter and fuel pump are going .... just no spark

i have a feeling my immobiliser may have been connected to some wires behind the dash and because i didnt disconnect my battery its engaged

my doors unlock and lock and the alarm led turns off but the car still wont work ...

Any ideas on how to fix it ??

cheers

whilst I agree with the above comments...

did you get anywhere near the immobiliser. did you undo any bolts that *MAY* have had a terminal on them. (IE ground for the immobiliser) viper and the ilk will lock/unlock doors without an earth attached and yeils a similar effect on the car.

start there as I figure its a wire off somewhere.

I would get a new cluster if i didnt have the white dials in my current one. too much messing around to get a new one and put them on it so i mose well just put in an external tacho.

Anyways woke up this morning to find my battery flat

Checked all wires and all are connected and all fuses but no luck

Had NRMA come out and have a look at it (free service for under 18's) and he said its the alarm/ imobiliser itself so ive desided that i best get it towed to mastertint tomorrow to get them to have a look

    • So either way it is gearbox out and look what is wrong?  I know about the input shaft bearing. Even before swap/new clutch the it sounded exactly like this: So is that inout shaft bearing or the other was installed backwards?  And can some please tell me the part number for that input shaft bearing? The gearbox is small box from R34 N/A and number is FS5W71C. Thank you
    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'
    • D2 and Ksport are essentially the same thing and basically just generic Taiwanese manufacture. Better than ChinaBay crap, but... not top shelf. Öhlins have got to be some of the best dampers around, so likely to be a good option. It's going to get to the point though where I suggest you buy from Oz. We have at least 2x excellent options here. If I were you though, I'd be talking to KW about doing something for the R33. There's bugger all difference between that and the 32. In GTR land, anyway.
    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
