hi guys

i just need some advice in changing both indicators on the front guards and under the headlights possibly from orange to white (clear)....

How much do they usually cost?

Where's a good place to get them?

Do i need to get someone to install it or can it be a DIY job?

any input would be much appreciated.

thanks

Hi Marco,

Doing a quick search will bring up all the info you need as this has been covered a few times,

FYI,

You can usually get the fronts for $150-200 and the sides for $80-150 depending on where you buy them from. I bought nismo smoked indicators for my 34, front and sides, from www.perfectrun.jp (they also stock the clear ones)

Decent delivery time and were the cheapest i found for the Nismo indicators.

I think it cost me around $250 ish all up as i also bought other parts at the same time to save on shipping.

It's definatly a DIY job, they are a piece of cake to change.

The side indicators you simply put some pressure on from the left side (i think it was the left, if it doesnt work just try the right side) and just wedge it out, undo the plug and slot the new one in in reverse.

The fronts i would recommend removing the front bar to replace, you can do it without it, but im not keen on doing it that way, undo all of the bolts under the front bar holding on the diffuser panels.

Pull back the wheel arch plastic/mud guards and there is a bolt on either side holding the front bar up, undo those, and then undo the clips on the top of the front bar under the bonnet and it should come off no problems, then you can clearly see the wiring plug running to each indicator, un clip the plugs, and then remove the front bar completely.

Then just squeeze together the metal clips on the backs of the indicators and they should pop out, do this all in reverse to put the new ones in.

Job done!

If not perfect run, as Stephen suggested, try e-bay or since you're in Sydney, Just Jap. Darron at Just Jap will give a discount to SAU members.

Driver's side indicator:- Standing next to your door, use a screwdriver at the edge of the indicator and push forward towards the front > pops out.

Passenger side indicator:- Standing next to your wheel, use a screwdriver at the leading edge of the indicator and push rearwards > pops out.

Front indicators:- Use a rag over the head of the screwdriver > insert on the FMIC side of the indicator (without having to touch the paintwork), and use the other hand to push the flat side of the head of the screwdriver towards the side > the lug of the indicator goes in > indicator pops out.

Hmmm I found at Just Jap they are a tad expensive, JDMConcept do:

Nismo - Front Smoked Indicators - $160

Nismo - Side Smoked Indicators - $85

compared to $239 and $119 respectively as advertised on the just jap site, or whatever it will be as a discount.

of course i want it in white color tho.

hmm abit less work for the front installation Terry :) wasnt keen on taking the front bar off ..

cheers i shall do some bargaining and tell u's how it goes :)

thanks

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
