Hello All,

Had an unfortunate incident with my R32 GTR yesterday arvo, I finished work went to the car in the car park and some little pr@#ks had tried to steal it. Smashed my key barrell nearly ripping it off completely, scratching panels etc....shit I was mad !!! Cant believe the balls of these types, middle of the day, 20+ cars in the carpark, people in and out constantly. They must of been spooked (or amatuers)because they were very close to starting her. I could rant about this for a page or 2 but I wont put you through that :) (I have a pic of whats left of the barrell if anyone is interested)

I am sure many of you have bought alarms over the years, does anyone have any units that they would recomend.

I like the idea of a GSM unit, has anyone had any bad experiences with these ?

Cheers,

Scott.

i run a viper alarm system and it works a treat for me for what i need anyway. post some pics up of the damage mate.

Thanks Krishy,

Stupid phone giving me grief getting the photos off and I am on my way out to drown my sorrows.

I will be back tomorrow with pics..

Join up with the Skylines Aus SA car club for only a measely few bucks and you get massive discounts from Auto Perfection and Ministry Of Bass - both supply and fit Australian standard insurance approved alarm systems.

GT Autosound do AutoWatch alarms. Probably one of the best alarms you can get and they no their shit there to by the best hiding places etc. Wouldn't go anywhere else personally.

A few of my mates have had problems with some other big name alarms like Viper. Their warranty isn't worth the paper it's printed on.

Thanks Import S13, typevu and Krishy..I am now building a list of where to start...cheers.

Here are a couple of pics of the damage, I will get a couple of the exterior damage when the wife comes home with the camera.

I can believe they made this much noise in a busy area...

Seconded Madaz

The way they left the area in a big hurry (somewhere between 2pm and 3pm) I reckon they were spooked.

I will be firing an email off Monday morning to all staff that may of been in the area and seen the car take off like a bat out of hell.

Their car was most likely stolen but will post any details I can get and someone may recognise the car, all I know so far is it was most likely White due to the paint scratch on the rear quarter and they were vertically challenged as they had to move my seat forward.

..I also had some personal items stolen from the centre console that would be very recognisable. I am not prepared to describe it on here but will reply to a PM.

no on site CCTV ?

Only in the depot, not in the staff or truck car park as yet, still in the quoting stage

Checked the camera that points at the gate on the street but does not show the street at all unfortunately. (Depot gate is on oposite side of road)

aww, well at least you still have the car i know its a headache having to fix but imagine having to ring your insurance assuming you have it saying the car got stolen and didn't have an alarm

Yes you are right, I had an old alarm in there but it has been playing up for months, I got complacent thinking that work and home would be the safest places to be parked and didnt get a new one. I never leave the car unattended at shopping centres etc.

Lesson learnt !!

I had my car broken into at 3am today, was parked right next to a bedroom window with a sensor light pointing at the car. My damage isnt anywhere near as bad as yours as the alarm must of scared them from going any further than opening the door.

    • For fuelling the Haltechs have O2WB fuel controllers. Very useful for helping tuning VE and correcting for *small* mistakes. Of course if your injector/cam/trigger/sensor data is just wrong (or for a GTT which is not a GT) then you will get impossible reactions to things. I am sure you know this already but the reason people don't typically put haltechs (or any Aftermarket ECU) on GT's is because there's practically no real gains to be had - So this knowledge won't be commonplace.
    • Can someone tell me if the cracks seen in the rear sway bar bushings in these photo's is unacceptable from a roadworthy point of view?
    • Shouldn't need a "base map" for anything other than guidance to ignition tuning. You just need the engine capacity right, the injector size right, and something, almost anything, for a VE map. On an NA engine, fuelling is almost completely a function of load signal & rpm. It should run and drive with a completely flat fuel map. It will be too lean under load, but that's easily fixed. We used to tune all ECUs without any base map. There were no such things (until someone had tuned a near stock engine on one, and then they had a "base map".
    • What did you actually buy/how much did it cost? When I got mine in like.. 2017...? 2019? the aim was to run Torque for gauges via ODB2 and things like Track Addict/Laptimers/Dashcam/Reversecam/Spotify etc. Mine never broke, but I wonder if you've got the same needs (it sounds like it). Cause I liked the idea of being able to do anything with it. That said, yours also cost 3x the cost of what I spent so... food for thought.
    • For me there is a massive difference in manufacturer or big brand crippled android (Sony, Kenwood etc) vs the sort of thing I've installed here, which is basically just a tablet in DIN form factor with open Android, and the other model of course is mirroring - Android Auto/Carplay. I hate the locked down manufacturer and AA options where they decide what apps I'm allowed to install, including the Launcher but also importantly things like Ecutek (for this car) or Real Dash (Stagea) are not supported. Plus those crippled versions tend to be slower due to both overheads and lower spec hardware. On the other hand, when this breaks I'll likely be in trouble for support....but how is that different to owning an Infiniti anyway
