Hey, just wondering what this wire/cable thing is, cos I was fabbing up a heatshield for the turbo when I noticed some of the wiring was frayed and coming loose (my guess is that it's going to pull apart in half with a bit more driving). It looks like it just bolts to one of the bolts on the manfold heatshield on one end, and the other has a plug which connects to the strut tower through just a bolt.

Car in question is a S2 R33 GTS-t.

Any idea what it is and if it breaks in half is it going to be a bad thing?

Thats an engine earth, its just braided cable. You should be able to pick up a new one from any electrical store (ie jaycar, blackwoods possibly).

I'd replace it if its knackered though because earthing problems can cause some fairly weird dramas. I seen a deisel rover melt the plastic cover clean off a clutch cable (dripped onto the floor) because the gearbox earth wasnt attatched. Kinda lucky it didnt wreck to much else cos it was drawing a fcuk load of amps from the battery.

Yeah it does seem like an earthing cable but I couldn't figure out what it's trying to earth lol no worries, I'll fix it tomorrow.

Since you mention it, I've used 1m thick galvanised steel for my turbo heat shield, and one of the mounting points is using the same bolt as the above grounding cable (can see it in the pics). Is that going to be a problem?
